Hell.
Yeah, this is something people should be worried about. :l
That is why you should not buy into any software that has built-in online based DRM, or is tied to a DRM'ed client in any shape or form.

Bad for EA, but hopefully more customers for gog ;)
Wow. When I read the thread title I thought it was a game that happened to be called Myanmar and they'd shut down the servers or whatever...

They've just removed access to an entire country?
That's completely shit.. a fuss really needs to be made about this..

It makes little difference for their multiplayer focused titles, but they still have some single player franchises that are affected by this.

adaliabooks:
I once criticized one of their post on Origin Facebook page and they blocked me.

Pheace:
well they just made the whole country a pirate.
At least EA titles on GOG can be played there.

Thats a bad move by EA and is not a good sign for any customers as they hold accounts at ransom and seem to say we can do whatever we want and to hell with customers who have spent a lot of money on our games. .

But it's also a great move for Gog lol.
this is why my library is with gog, and I even go further and store them on my harddrive and various other back ups cuz even gog could shut down its servers
Not only Myanmar, it seems.
"In compliance with US embargoes and sanctions laws, Origin is not available in Cuba, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, Sudan, Syria and Ukraine (Crimea region)."

Mhm, I don't really know a lot about this, but if that's an actual legal requirement, doesn't that mean Steam will have to oblige as well, but Gog doesn't, not falling under US jurisdiction?

Edit: Yeah, sorry, just realised that sanctions against Myanmar have recently been lifted. So, the whole argumentation seems pretty nonsensical.

The ones we have here currently yeah but if the multiplayer focused titles would end up here as well there's no reason to believe they might not block those with Galaxy for the same reasons eventually. (Well, assuming Poland/Cyprus/whatever would force GOG in the same situation)

Someone managed to connect via their mobile data though, but not exactly a great way to "fix" things.

http://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin/ISP-IP-blocked-by-EA/m-p/5588812/highlight/true#M222597

"However when I tried my mobile data connection (another ISP) I was able to log in on Origin as well as being able to access Origin.com."

Not first time this has happened, won't be the last. As per usual, it's one govt screwing over other govts & the people are the ones getting hurt by it.
I was going to question whether GOG was really much better with their regional blocking, but I guess the difference here is they aren't blocking anyone from Germany buying any games here.
And this is why I don't use Origin. They can just pull your content whenever they wan't and erase your account whenever they wan't and you can forget all your money.

Same thing is valid for Steam though after all its a rental like Origin.

Well, I had Origin ranked a little higher than U-play... not now.
You can't just take a customer's money and arbitrarily WITHOUT WARNING deny them what they paid for.
