Ancient-Red-Dragon: No they haven't. Their modern games are chockful full of woke propaganda and revisionist history where they retconn & SJW-ize their characters in their remake versions.
And they also sell games that are only 6 hours long games for $59.99 USD.
And they also treat GOG like garbage and like it doesn't exist and almost never release any games on GOG even though they easily could release all their games on GOG.
Conclusion: Capcom is a very trashy company.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and I respect yours, but I just don't agree with any of that. If you can give specific examples of the woke propaganda that their games are filled with, then I'd certainly be more open to accepting your perspective here.
I just don't see how they've SJW-ized their characters either in remake versions. Claire and Jill both looked really good in their remake games. I can sort of see a desire to have a little more on the bonus costume end of things, but the modding community for these games is excellent! If you want a more "sexed" up Claire or Jill then you have some fantastic options.
And look at RE:VIIIage with Lady Dimitrescu and her "daughters". I love that scene where you first encounter the daughters in the main hall btw, but there's nothing "SJW" about these characters.
I can sort of understand where some people are coming from with the game length and cost argument, but Resident Evil games are meant to be replayed! I have over 100 hours on RE2 remake, and over 80 on RE3 remake. In fact, I'm going to do at least another playthrough or two of EACH game since Capcom just released the Raytracing and enhanced 3D audio updates for free.
But I can totally see if you're someone that's a "one and done" kind of gamer, then yea, your money is probably better spent elsewhere, or waiting for discounts. I had no problem getting huge value out of my day one purchases however, and I will certainly be pre-ordering or day one buying RE4 remake also.
As for Capcom treating GOG like crap, well, that's kind of par for the course when it comes to major studios. It's just another store / platform they need to support, and if the games sell pitiful amounts then where is the incentive to do that? At least they made an attempt to release things on GOG, but if the numbers aren't there to make it viable or worth their time, then what can you do?
I wish it were different, and believe me I've reached out to Capcom numerous times over the years requesting more titles on GOG, and they just don't care. For better or worse, the vast majority of gamers are totally fine with buying on Steam, and Steam is Capcom's primary platform now. To their benefit, Capcom even goes the extra mile and removes additional DRM from their games after some amount of time.
