So I'm trying to download a game's installer from my GOG library, and everytime it seems the download gets damaged, and states that i need to re-download the files. I saw one thread state that GOG Galaxy would potentially work.

Well I just tried downloading the backup installer for said game through GOG Galaxy, and 4 out of 6 individual parts for said game are corrupted.

What do I need to do in order to get the installer parts intact for backing up?

Maybe try the Downloader.
Where the hell has that been all my life? I've been using Galaxy the whole time.

ariaspi: Maybe try the Downloader.
I will check back and update you in about 20 minutes
I don't use it myself, but I've heard people are using it without problems.

Can you by chance tell me what the two tabs say? On my screen are two tabs with two downloads but no text or anything. Is one maybe a 32 bit and the other 64 bit? (see screenshot)

Or maybe one is a Windows version and the other a Linux (or Mac) version???

I have the same problem, but at the bottom, in the status bar it shows the link for the files.
First/left one is: Setup_Downloader_3.6.0_stable.exe
Second/right one is: GOG_Downloader_1.2_512.zip

EDIT:
Just download the first one. The other one seems to be for the MAC.

Yeah, I finally saw that, downloaded it, installed it, it asked for my email and password, and like a doofus I screwed up my email so it didn't take, and then it would NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE let me retry. So I uninstalled it, tried to reinstall it, and a box pops up saying something about something (basically something is fucked up).

God this stuff can be so aggravating.

But thank you for the clarification. At least I know I screwed up the right one. LOL

Probably it saves something in the registry. If you know how to edit the registry, look in the following locations for something related to the Downloader login and delete it.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GOG.com
FOUND THE PROBLEM!

I also once had problems with a few defective downloads and thought the problem must be on GOG's side since I downloaded the same way as always, with a good download manager.

But in the end it turned out to be a faulty harddrive that was starting to get defective sectors...

Have you checked your harddrive for errors recently? You might want to do that.
If you're having trouble with corrupted or damaged downloads, ask support to generate a MultiPar data set for you, and then you can use it to repair the damage in your data without needing to re-download it. Don't go to multipar.eu to get MultiPar, it is a malware or spam site. Get MultiPar from the Live Business Chat (LBC) forum, here:

https://www.livebusinesschat.com/smf/index.php?board=396.0

EDIT: You can use MultiPar to preserve and protect your DRM-free files forever. If a bit flips somewhere during the years you have it in long term data storage, MultiPar will detect the error and fix it for you. Absolutely EVERYONE should be using MultiPar if you care about the integrity of your data.

Geralt_of_Rivia: Have you checked your harddrive for errors recently? You might want to do that.
Most people have no way to check their stored games for errors. You can use MultiPar for everything, to both check for errors and to repair errors, but my favorite for only checking errors is Corz Checksum. It's a lot faster than MultiPar, so I generate the .hash file with Corz Checksum, then make the MultiPar par2 recovery data set, so I can use MultiPar to detect errors in Corz Checksum's .hash file. Then, at any time in the future, when I want to just check for errors, I can use Corz Checksum to do it very quickly. If it reports errors, then I run MultiPar to verify the .hash file isn't corrupted, and then correct any errors it finds.

If I start suddenly finding a lot of errors, that's a good clue the hard drive is going bad, so I use FastCopy (with CRC32 checksum verification) to move the files to a new drive, and then verify nothing went wrong using Corz Checksum. So, basically, I check everything twice with 2 different methods. It is very unlikely you will lose data if you check with 2 different methods.

You have to have backups too, obviously, but backups are useless if you're backing up damaged data. You have to verify to KNOW everything is working OK. Most people don't bother to verify anything, and they lose data without ever even knowing it has been lost.
