Hope you say the same to Steam (censored Steam China in the making) and Epic (Tencent partnership).

dycaite: LMAO it was ONE joke that ONE dev included (and the asset has since been patched out). HOW does that amount to the whole game being a "political attack"?? What an utterly ridiculous thing to say
avatar
vsr: All i know is that this game has a strong halo of toxicity around it.
Such things shouldn't be on GOG.
Why not? As long as games don't break the laws, they should be allowed on this store.
Even those garbage activist games with their forced lgbtq agendas.
Oh no censor everything cause it hurted someone's feelings .... you are just the same as the ccp.

dycaite: That's not at all what you said before, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

OK, please explain this mysterious halo of toxicity (and if you're referring to the state of the forums, this is happening because taking the game down was a really shitty thing to do)

xa_chan: Don't you understand you're WRONG ? because the horde of the internet has decided so, so you're wrong. Welcome in the 2.0 world

dycaite: What he suggested was outrageous (that the game was MADE as a political attack). How can anyone genuinely defend that viewpoint with rebuttals like "oh don't listen to them, they're just a mean old mob of haters"?
Because I can? And because I don't give a flying f***k about what you're thinking?

All that story is just a bunch of entitled kiddos whining for what they are told to whine for. There's no coherence in the internet mob, just a constant attempt at "me! me! me! look at me I did a thing!!'

So you know nothing about the situation and your reason for being on GOG's side here is "I want to". Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up.

all he knows he has to defend ccp
I'm sad to be leaving too, this place was built on some really nice ideals, but if GOG is going to be a bunch of spineless lying manipulative cunts then what's the point

I just love the catharsis you get when people you're arguing with can't give you a valid reason for their viewpoints... I don't see anyone explaining how or why they think Devotion was *made as a political attack*, do you? Funny that...

Exactly! Because everybody knows that not agreeing with you automatically means that I'm a drone of the CCP.

After all, if you want to think so, please go ahead.

Must be nice to have such a simple way to think. Everybody becomes simple. No complexity anymore in this world, no nuance, everything is "1" or "0".

Whatever.

Don't worry, you're fightingn the good fight. You're a hero.

the only point is to get the product you want, drm-free games and probably that's all

Still waiting on an explanation (other than "because I want to") as to why you are defending the "Devotion was made as a political attack" line. Please, enlighten us, I have time :)

Devotion had a single joke at China's expense and it was removed over a year ago. One joke. Put in by a lone person on the dev team.

OK, now you go: tell us all about how the entire game is a political attack. Given your attitude, I'm sure you must have played the game yourself, right? So please, do tell.

I for one welcome people announcing their departure.
It's one of those things in business. You do a good job people don't have complaints, but at least you might get a few suggestions.
You start losing customers and quite often you will have no idea why because they simply are not there.
At least GOG is getting some feedback on what IS driving customers away.
Means that whatever direction they are going in, after that point it's willful negligence if they go downhill because the data is right in front of them.

Oh but you're mistaken! I'm absolutely not definding the "Devotion was made as a political attack" line! Please quote a message where I do!!

I don't care about all the "Devotion" drama, I don't even know what the game looks like!

Not at any cost, DRM-free (though very important) is not more important (to me) than at least trying (although probably ultimately unsuccessfully) to keep editorial control of the games I play away from totalitarian regimes.
