I had asked here a couple years back about a similar thing regarding these ocular birth control devices. I have 2D vision because of strabismus, and asked if anyone knew whether the headsets would still work for someone seeing out of one eye. Apparently it does work.

Thinking about it, I suppose it should work. I won't get 3D vision out of the headset; then again, I've NEVER had 3D vision. So if my brain sees just a 2D view then it's still a VR experience akin to what I see in the reals.
That's actually something that has never been addressed ... the VR medium excludes a lot of people with physical handicaps. Glasses fit poorly into an HMD, and a lot of games requires you to stand and move about a lot, so if you're in poor health, or in a wheelchair, forget it.

Yeah, stereo vision is not the only way we see 3D. There is also stuff like the parallax effect. The following illusion is build upon how our brain "guess" the 3rd dimension from a 2D image:

I'm just really surprised Steam's designers are using what appears to be the "Chiller" font. That's close to the league of "Papyrus".

Just ask the artist to write the text by hand. Those "handwriting fonts" never really work, IMHO.
Sometimes I wish GOG had those big AAA titles here to make sales look crazy AF but a man can only dream.

Interesting. I'll guess that the brain is 'wired' for 3D, so it seeks to find a fluid third dimension even when it doesn't exist.

Speaking for myself, 2D has never been a problem, though with strabismus it isn't quite the same as having just one working eye (there is still peripheral vision with the eye that's 'turned off'). The world does appear flat but life experience tells one otherwise. Can't hit a baseball to save my life but driving, frisbee, etc., are no problem. Not sure if it's the same for those who truly use just one eye. When I close one eye, it's simply a matter of losing the peripheral vision from the closed side.

So I'm curious to see what a VR rig would do for me, besides make it impossible to get laid.

You can even trace over printed-out text (like in Sharpie) to make it look disheveled, then scan it back in; that can create an interesting texture. That's an option I learned in uni.
There's so much craziness that goes down on this forum that I'm entirely unable to tell whether OP is seriously trying to bash on VR users or not.

I'm bashing on VR users, for what it counts for.

Yeah, I should have made the just-for-fun angle way more clear. As a VR fanatic, I was just proud to see my medium so prominently displayed!

the guy FINALLY got back to me last night. Turns out he's been in the hospital all week which is a big moral dilemma for me.

Any way, he sent me the link for the cooler, I ordered it. He should have it in about three days. As soon as he installs it and makes sure nothing else was damaged from shipping I can go pick it up.

AND if you think having an new gaming machine is going to keep me from being here all the time you're nuts. :D

"Hey whatever happened to TinyE? You remember? He had that Oscar the Grouch avatar. We haven't seem or heard from him in weeks. Poor (Dang it, I can;t think of his or her name. Starts with either an N or a T.) doesn't have anyone to rant against."
