It’s sad how quickly they responded to Chinese “gamers” and how they continue ignore everyone else. It’s just disappointing for me as I supported them for so long.

Yeah, I read that fiasco from Encyclopedia Dramatica of all places and how GOG screwed themselves on getting big bucks when Hatred became popular. Since Postal 2 is here, it's baffling that they chickened out on Hatred. Then again, GOG chickened out on Devotion too.

Darker days are coming, people. I won't be surprised if one day, the US and the Philippines become Chinese provinces too with the way China is dominating the world and censorship is becoming the norm.

If there's one this year and GOG is present with a booth and all that, maybe someone from the community or members of the press could swing by and ask them for a belated statement on why they went with this ludicrous "the gamers told us to do it" excuse instead of just openly admitting to Devotion being too hot to handle and them dropping it at the last minute because of the potential implications.

All wouldn't be good, cause this month long deception and constant communications blackout has caused permanent damage in my trust of GOG... And especially with them using US as their excuse for their lack of morals, that feels extra disgusting... But an apology would be an important first step towards healing the wounds.

As active forum users are most likely a minority of their user base, you essentially have a fraction of a fraction of their user base complaining in an easy to ignore format. Its not as if they get a popup notification each time a post gets added to a thread.

Of course, its very visible for the forum moderators, but that's like complaining about a brick & mortar store's refund policy to the guy at the cash register (meanwhile, the manager calling the shots in the back office is insulated from all of this).

Of course, its probably cathartic to some people so by all means, harp away. Just don't expect it to matter, except for you.

That's just paranoia. China might be in the top 2 spots, but they are a super-power among many (put the rest of the world together and they are small), plus all the super-powers have nukes.

You'll see a lot of posturing (especially for a piece of the ever-shrinking developing world) for a couple of extra inches here and there, but nobody is taking over anybody else.

When you have Chinese mainlanders slowly infiltrating your country everyday, there's a reason to be a bit paranoid and not helping the fact that our president has a hard-on for China. Fortunately, our relationship with the US has not diminished as I thought it would be.

Had this brought up to me and kinda glossed over it, but even with what GOG did to Red Candle Games being super shitty that is just the tip of the iceberg. Most Asian cultures are pretty centered around face and that very much pertains here. Because of how GOG handled this, it is super disrespectful of Red Candle Games and they have lost significant amount of face because of it. There has been absolutely no word since this whole shitshow began, even from Red Candle and that includes the possibility of the game being hosted elsewhere. Just hope that they haven't gone into hiding for another year and at least keep trying to get the game out there.

I'm curious why they haven't tried to sell it themselves at this point. I understand politics is a big deal, but cloudflare doesn't seem ready to block someone like them over this.

Your guess is as good as mine. I really see no reason why they cannot host it themselves. Unless they have been getting threats if they happen to do so.
