StrawHatLuffy23: Politics is the only reason why people are talking about this game. If it did come out, how many of you would actually buy it? I bet not many
I would've.

I added my vote to the wishlist entry many months ago.

Thanks to Streisand effect I read the reviews and both of Red Candle's games seem interesting to me. I'm giving GOG a couple more days and unless there are new developments, I'll buy Detention (the other game) on Playism, or wherever it's available. I'll also buy Devotion once it's finally released somewhere, and I'm confident it will be (apparently Zoom Platform offered to host it, and there might also be a box version too).

This is EXACTLY the reason why it's important. I don't care about the game at all; I will not buy it of even play it for free. But I am greatly opposed to political implication of such decision.

Not sure what the deal was, there, but they've 180'd.

So some companies can actually listen to their users instead of treating them like shit? that's uplifting

Even GOG did a few times. The problem is when companies believe blind loyalty from current customers and only focus on "the new market." That's how we get game sequels (especially fighting games) that piss off their fan bases all the time.

So far they unblocked them again afaik.
Has GOG even pronounced about this?

Are you asking whether they have responded to the community feedback?
They have not.
The silence is deafening.
They probably don't want to rush things this time and are carefully thinking things through, after all i think they really are trying to do good on us.
And they certainly don't want to go full BLIZZARD. XD

I wonder what the makers of that Covid game think of this. I remember many messages from gamers when that came out.

GHOSTMD: sooo do we have a decision yet, regarding bringing the game back?
avatar
Turbo-Beaver: Bring it back GOG!

https://web.archive.org/web/20201216104008/gog.com/game/devotion

Nearly 7,500 votes now. If half of these people bought the game (which I think is likely) priced at $17/€14 (the announced price), that's $63,750/€52,500 in sales, of which GOG takes a 30% cut, so $19,125/€15,750 in lost revenue for GOG so far (excluding taxes but still).
already voted to bring it back, not because i am particulary interested in that horror game
because it would be the right thing to do, simple as that

There is only one thing they can do. Agree to let the developer host the game.
If they want to appease the nationalist Chinese crowed they can not host it for China. It is not something i agree but is a millions time better than actually helping an authoritarian government censor people from other nations.
