WeirdoGeek: Say, any chance of telling us who the publisher was? Or would that violate privacy rules?

I was talking about whatever publisher decided to make this call, not GOG. I apologize for any confusion, I kinda suck at words sometimes. Yes, I am aware GOG is completely innocent in this.

SirPrimalform: Ah, yup. I completely misunderstood you, sorry!

I imagine it was solicitors rather than a publisher who made this call. I doubt they have the slightest interest in the fate of the games, they'll just be concerned with paying off whatever debts Telltale might have by selling rights and things.
No worries, friend.

Nelko_Lazar: Wait a minute. Telltale went belly up? They have some pretty successful games in their repertoire, so what happened? Lost a bet or something?

Sam & Max and Back to the Future were some of the first games I reviewed when I used to write for a PC gaming blog. I wasn't assigned to review Tales of Monkey Island and got assigned to Jack Keane instead, but I remember trying to push for co-authoring the Tales review. Came off with just a special mention, but getting to play the game while on the clock was the real pay-off.

I should start archiving my Telltale games.
All of their recent games made losses and they paid big to get the rights to popular franchies like Game of Thrones and couldn't pay it off.

So it was a bet. Makes sense.

fortune_p_dawg: thanks for the heads up konrad.
It's not really a heads-up if you get the info after the fact...
low rated

Starkrun: I would highly suggest anyone pick up the rest of Telltale as they are dropping like flies now.

https://www.gog.com/games?devpub=telltale_games&page=1&sort=title

not even going to obscure the link... click, go, sell plasma, a kidney, get what you can... also yeah i couldn't justify the full price for BTTF, they were on sale a few times but never got around to it... damn shame to lose them here :(

edit: as a suggestion, Borderlands is a MUST if your a fan, the Batmans are fantastic, wold amung us is top tier, Game of Thrones is really fun, Guardians of the Galaxy is more like the comic and less like the movies, still fun. and Minecraft is a great story all in all. Really enjoyed it, kids love it too!

Sam&Max are for the die hard fans, same for Puzzle Agent... and i never tried Hector but it looks funny!
Most Telltale games are garbage, why buy bad games just because of the rarity? That's a silly move, might as well just pirate them instead of giving money to the IP owners who made the call to pull the game.

Effectively, yeah. They bit off more than they could chew thinking that the "Walking Dead" template was some kind of magic money formula.
I know these are not disappearing right now, but anyway:

So if you want to buy the Minecraft Telltale games, do you buy all the three?

Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series
Minecraft Story Mode - Adventure Pass
Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two

The reviews of the first game complain about the length of the first episode (45 minutes or so)... but that is not the whole game, right? It has five episodes?

And the Adventure Pass adds more episodes to season one?

And Season Two includes now all the five episodes (for the second season), right?

triock: Bingo
Ok thanks, just wanted to make sure that e.g. the second season is not some kind of "first episode released so far, the rest in the future (not, as the company is no more)", and that none of those seasons or passes are not overlapping. So just get all three and don't think about it.

I have all the other Telltale games on GOG (including those who have disappeared from GOG already) except the second Batman game, Guardians of Galaxy and these Minecraft game. Maybe I'll get them before they disappear too, not really expecting any sales for them anymore...
...
Aaand done. About 106€ disappeared from my account like pooof! For a good cause...

Yeah I have all the ones I'm interested in but Guardians of the Galaxy. Hopefully it goes on sale before it gets pulled. I'm not really keen on spending that much money on it.

timppu: the second Batman game
is pretty good, it builds on the first so I recommend that one right before... because save import (via Telltale servers) is already dead, but Batman 2 allows for "what were my choices in the previous game". So it's good if you still know... ;-)

IMO TWD:S1 and Wolf are the best TTG titles I've played so far.
Wonder how long Batman and GOTG will be here before they get delisted.

I'd like to pick up the first Batman game, but that pricetag? Oof.

Really wish I knew which will come first, a sale or removal...

Considering the situation, I doubt we'll be seeing any sale on Telltale games anymore. At least not until, until somebody who is GOG friendly, buys the rights for them.
The games' license shouldn't be expiring anytime soon, but a takedown from what's left of Telltale, could come at any time, once there's talk about somebody else buying the property.

Last discount was during Summer 2018, a bit before Telltale's closure announcement. So, I would wager on the latter one.
