This was confirmed by publisher THQ/Nordic to the German game magazine Gamestar.

The news only speaks about Steam but considering that GOG has a very good working relationship with THQ/Nordic and we also got the same deal on Darksiders 2: Dethinitive Edition it's pretty much safe to say that owners on GOG will be getting it too next week.

This might also be the last chance to get the old version if you want to have it. While nothing has been said on that topic yet the original version will most likely be pulled from sale once the Warmastered Edition hits the stores in 4 days just like Darksiders 2.
That's nice, that's more than CDPR did.
Wasn't the Dethinitive Edition worse than the original though?
Or did they fix that?

First, the "Game of the Year" Edition is the same thing as the game plus the expansion passes. It isn't a different game. If you have one, you have the same as the other. So rather a false equivalent.

Second, it sounded as though most of the release bugs were dealt with fairly quickly for Darksiders 2 Definitive Edition. Didn't play it much, more just booted it up, so cannot tell you more. Was a black eye since the new edition was apparently not ready for release, but they seemingly addressed the issues. Others can add if there are any lingering issues.
I own both games on GOG, but didn't receive the Deathinitive Edition for free, because I didn't own the dlc. So I better expect nothing this time.

Ah yes, that was right. Think I had to buy it at 80% off if I remember correctly. Didn't have the DLC either. Since there is no DLC package, shouldn't have the same issue with the first.
Nice, but the problem however is: will it be good?
They teased us that Darksiders and Darksiders 2 were coming to Linux. I'd rather have a Linux version than a warmastered deathinitive version.

The Deathinitive Edition was an huge improvement performance-wise (the original PC port was an utter disaster), but it had a pretty big bug where button prompts were blanked, making the game almost unplayable. It has been fixed a week ago.

Well, having played the PS4 version, it certainly looks promising. The PS4 version runs at 1080p, enhanced texture and shadow work and what looks to be a very steady 60fps, although effects work remains very simple (it was simple by PS3 standards back in the day, and when up-rezzed in this way, looks a bit like a late-gen PS2 game. There's also a strange permanent chromatic aberration effect in the background, not sure if that'll remain for the PC version.

It's likely to be the Warmastered/Deathinitive Editions that are coming to Linux.

Well I took them nearly six month (after Steam) to release a 40MB patch on GoG correct the button prompt issue that made the game nearly unplayable with a controller (the prompt were black square instead of the button to press), so let's just say that THQ/Nordic doesn't have a stellar track record when it come to supporting games on GoG.

So, because one game hadn't been patched for a long time means that THQ Nordic doesn't have a good track record of supporting games on GOG...Well golly jee, what about other THQ Nordic games? Cause afaik they don't take long to patch something on GOG.

Well most of the others games are indies or older games that don't really need patch any more, the Deathnitive edition was one of the few "recent" (as in very close to steam release) games. Also the game was patched... on Steam... it just took nearly six month (actually nearly a year) for them to take time to make the GoG version of said patch.

1: Witcher 3 is the same if you have all expansions...
2: It was far better in all aspects, the graphics and gameplay were smooth as glass and all the odd memory hitches were gone for me

I've owned both game for a long time, since release on the console... having them on the PC is "imo" a far better experience. This is something that i cant wait to snag, its worth a full playthough again.. one of the best zelda style games out there.

Now all we need is Legendary and the singleplayer part of Hellgate: London to complete that style of game from that era; we recently obtained all the rest ^_^

The Witcher 1 enhanched edition was free too. Did 2 even get a remaster?
I hope they've actually made it good. This game was seriously boring.
