SCPM: His reply really doesn't sound like your tweets are the reason why the game isn't here.
Go to the wishlist entry for the game and compare the timeline of those earlier Steam & Twitter links from the devs saying it was coming, to the timeline of Barry's posts, and to dev posts after that saying it wasn't coming after all. it seems like they did change their mind after that. This is assuming they even really had plans to bring it here of course. Still, I have to place most if not all of the fault at the devs for the misunderstanding the more I think about it.

The Axiom Verge dev never had an interest in GOG to begin with.

Brian Provinciano joining on this was a big shocker since he has a game out on GOG as well,

though Barry, did you have a "bizdev" thing as your member title at some point here on the forums? in the area where it says for me (at the time of this posting Jan 28 2018) "Lycoris Fubuki" because thats what could have started this (edit yes you did according to the twiter archive.)

v3 posted 8/15/15: Well Barry, thank you for all your efforts on poking publishers to go DRM-free. I think this would be the most suitable position for you.

I responded 8/16/15: I certainly have more than enough enthusiasm for the product, but there may be a bit of a sticking point: "At least 3 years of experience in Business Development as a manager or senior manager. The more international the experience, the better!"

v3 posted 8/16/15: You've been around for more than 3 years, so - checked. It doesn't get more international than this. As for the title, semantics (try forum settings). I think you're good to go. All in favour of Barry?

The 16th of August 2015 was the day of the incident. Probably a few hours (or less) after the exchange above. A perfect storm of sorts.

Those devs could have asked gog or even just made a general forum post here asking if you wokred for gog instead of jumping on you from the get go. Even without that misunderstanding, their reaction was uncalled for.

Tom Happ: "No...@Dan_Adelman right?"

It's telling that the creator of the game had to defer to Adelman. The fact that Axiom Verge never came to the Humble Bundle store (sans Steam) or itch.io might mean that Adelman steered Happ away from a DRM-free wide release.

Yeah, that one really leaped out at me too.

I just came across this tweet by Tom Happ on the 4th of April 2017:

"Here is the actual link for purchasing on Twitch. Oh yeah, and for everyone wanting DRM free, go here:

https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Axiom%20Verge/details"

A DRM-free version on Twitch? That's news to me.

"Twitch Crates

Any purchase on Twitch of a game or in-game item worth $4.99 or more will earn you a Twitch Crate. Think of these as your own personal treasure chests filled with loot."

Oh boy, even storefronts have loot boxes now?

To give Happ the benefit of the doubt, he did say it was DRM-free. Yes, Twitch has a client, but perhaps there's an option to download standalone installers (when available) from there ala Galaxy.

If you decide to give it a try despite your history with them, please let us know if there's actually the option to download a DRM-free, standalone installer/zipfile. And while you're at it, also whether they offer Mac and Linux versions of those games that have them, even though they only mention Windows on the store.

If the answer is affirmative in both cases, I miiiiiiiiight consider it as a valid store for me.
