Space Haven is coming soon DRM-free.

Embark on a space journey with your patched-together crew of civilians in search of a new home. Build spaceships tile by tile, create optimal gas conditions, manage the needs and moods of their crew, encounter other space-faring groups, and explore the universe in this spaceship colony sim.

AdmiralGeezer: Would aim to have the tool downloadable from our own website! Why not Steam workshop too, just have to look into how all of that works.
That's great that we can get the tools from your site, thank you!
As others have mentioned, having steam workshop can negatively affect those that don't use steam because of it being a closed platform - you cannot download mods from it without both using Steam and owning the game on it, which can hurt the modding scene and makes it harder to share material. I've heard good things about mod.io as an alternative, like Pooka suggested; it's what openXcom uses as well.

Thanks for considering it. :)

AdmiralGeezer: Hey there! Dev here.

This really is our dream game for us. We have been working on it close to 3 years now, building the architecture to support a lot of depth regarding character and gas simulations. Building is completely free, tile by tile and the game is basically fully destructible.

We've been running a Kickstarter for the game and it has been going great! We're well over 300% funded on our $40k goal with over 10 days to go still. Streamers and Youtubers have been trying out the alpha and helping us highlight the game.

Here's some great game play explaining the various systems in the game:

Alpha access starts mid April for Alpha Crew Member backers of the Kickstarter campaign. We will then develop the game further and eventually release here as well :)

I love everything I have seen about this game so far.

wizisi2k: just backed at the alpha access tier and I have a question for the dev: will there be workshop support in the future? Another question: (because I have seen games go months without updates on here in a spreadsheet), what is the plan for updates on here. Also, with the just-unlocked second copy for tiers $20 and up, would that second copy be a copy @$20 or @ the tier we backed.

AdmiralGeezer: Hey!

We will create a tool to support modding, and have things that are easy to fit in there for modding supported first. Then we will see how the tool evolves with time. It's all about what's feasible taking into account the amount of work needed. We cannot promise it will be super extensive, but we will try.

If you mean updating the game we will of course aim to update all stores at the same time.

The community bonus digital copy is for the official release version, so the $20.
Please I BEG YOU AdmiralGeezer! I BEGGG YOUUUU! Don't block steam workshop from allowing remote mod downloads, or everyone with the gog.com version of space haven will be unable to access any mods! This is a common disaster. Please allow remote steam mod workshop downloads and please if possible provide an alternative place to post mods and download mods for space haven, or at the very least set up or designate moddb (because it doesn't require any frustrating account creation, and allows people to just grab whatever mods they like with one click)

Thank you! :D

Fortuk: Will mod support be open or tied into the Steam workshop? This seems to vary per game so it felt worth it to ask.

On a different note. Congratulations on getting all of your stretch goals. The last one is particularly ambitious and I'm looking forward to seeing how it'll turn out.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention, The more freedom the mod tools give the mod makers, the more work they can actually put into the mods. As long as the tool just makes it easy to do the work to make anything possible, typically that's a good mod tool, like if it gives the freedom to do lots of things, and isn't limiting. Results in very huge amazing mods! :D
