The dark side of Pluto.

Battlezone: Combat Commander is coming soon, DRM-free on GOG.com.
A faithful remaster of the classic RTS/FPS hybrid, featuring remastered visuals, mod support, online multiplayer, and the same unique gameplay that fans of the series remember fondly. Take the role of Lt. John Cooke as you return to the alternate 1990s timeline to deal with the results of an unwise series of experiments. Improving upon the original, this sequel added more weapons, vehicles and unpredictable battlefields, while expanding upon the dual nature of the gameplay.

I am happy for this because from the look of it, the graphics get a heavy update, yet they still manage, to work on moddest hardware (hopefully).

Kassad666: Hell yes! I had to check the wiki to see if this is BattleZone 2 and it is! It was my favourite of the serie.
Instabuy incoming.
Hell yeah!
This game was uh... a gamechanger for me back in the day.
I can't even count, how many times I played those games back then.
I hope, they get it up and runnig.
Gosh, how I miss the feeling of steering those Gliders over the moon. There was never again something that felt like that.
I sure hope it's got either a new game engine or includes all the fixes that one dev did in the public beta patches as well. The old version of this game was so full of bugs!

Now we just need someone to merge all those epic races people created for the old game into one playable mod and this game would be set!

CLBrown: Are you under the impression that the original is BETTER? Or just that the update isn't a major one as you see it?

Crosmando: The latter.
Years ago veterans of this game on their forums told me the game hasn't seen a digital release due to legal issues over who owns what IP.

I really wonder if the re-texturing was done to clear up the legal IP issues so they could go ahead and release it. That might explain why the texture updates are good, but not that big of a change. Also it seems they changed a bunch of sound effects that I didn't think needed changed.
Btw, I noticed a change in the game's API entry a few days ago (and it's also on the gamecard), but forgot to mention it:

Released:
March 1, 2018
A glimpse into the future, I guess.
