Can someone please help me. I can't remember the name of this PC game. You explored a world and you would find villages and try to set up missions in them. You would have to search all around and you would find gold and other things to support the villagers to where they would want you to set up a mission. Sorry but it's about all I can remember. I loved the game and would like to find it. Thanks in advance for any help.
The Settlers?
Closest I can think of is Caesar 3. You can build mission posts in villages to make them friendly and unlock trading relations with them. But I doubt that's it based on your description
Parts of the description (exploring the world to find villages and gold, establish missions, managing villagers) fit Sid Meier's Colonization.
Any idea how old it was?

2D or 3D graphics?

Did you control a character or was it more of an RTS or 4X style game?
I'm going to dartboard Age of Empires.
Seven Cities of Gold. had the exploration part, finding villages and trading resources with them (or killing them all). Probably not the game you're looking for, but just in case there's the link.
This should be GOG's tag line . GoG - Can't remember the name of a game you used to play? We can help!
Thank you all for the help. I am going to check them all out and hopefully its one of them. Its probably been 15-20 years since I played it last. I think I remember getting the game as an extra with either the Ultima series I bought or Age of Wonders.
