I'd go for it as a kind of chill RPG sandbox experience like Skyrim. Whenever I play it I just do the solo content anyway. Don't need other players to enjoy the beautiful zones, quests and progression. Obviously though, having players around to generate more content makes it better and more varied.

Ah. Lord of the Rings Online...
I loved this game in it's time. But on the other hand, it's one of the few MMOs that i played, where i never got a character to level cap.
The zones later on are often so dreary, especially when compared to the excellent implementation of the shire. After. or even in Moria, i juts don't have the will to play this anymore *g*

I would like to get Star Trek Offline myself. Got into STO three or four years back, only lasted about four months before exhaustion from the "job" got to me. Here's hoping someone salvages it after the game has been sent to the boneyard.
Have been looking at Dragonball Online Global, which is a private version of the retired original. Might get around to that, if Dragonball Heroes on PC doesn't hold my fancy.

I'm sure we can get it offline if we DDOS all their servers.

Since we're completely in dreamland now, I'd like GOG to bring back dead old MMOs, especially Tabula Rasa and Warhammer Online. With or without the multiplayer.

Perhaps the most ridiculous game request thread I've ever seen.

Eh silliness aside, I imagine storywise it's just as watered down as almost any other mmo :P Talking about 95% of quests that it is.
If I had to pick any LotR game for gog, then definitely : Battle for Middle Earth 1 and 2

While I enjoyed my time with LOTRO way back when, I don't see it as a game that would be a great solo experience. If you want an MMO-style singleplayer experience, try Final Fantasy XII.
