vsr: This doesn't mean you should destroy everything, just because someone is rich. If his riches were earned illegitimately, he should be prosecuted. Otherwise your government should work on your laws, to make them "closer to people" (olygarchy won't like it though). In Russian government there are people who earn in a year so much money, that most people will not earn in theirs entire life. This is legacy of the past 200x and 90s years. Process of fixing it is slow (Laws, Propaganda, Laws and Laws and Propaganda ;)). If you hasten it, then so-called 'elites' will stir things up, will try to wreak havoc (USA 'today'). The more correct way would be to control them, to have them by your side, to direct them in a way which will benefit all people and themselves (otherwise they'll just take all the money and run abroad).
This is basically what Putin is doing now. By the way, Trump is copying Putin by demanding localization of manufacturing (Work places! Yay!). ;)
Really? Is that why Putin has billions of dollars in offshore accounts like we saw in the Panama Papers? Or was that leak correct about all those evil "oligarchs" it exposed except for Putin and his friends? Was that the only part that was a lie?

vsr: About "Not for the people":
Basically you can question every President this way. And what answer you expect to hear? What 'proof' you expect to see. This is childish.
You make decisions before elections, not after, demanding 'proof'. If he is not worthy, don't elect him. -_-*
Of course you do. Demanding accountability and results from your leaders is the very cornerstone of democracy, you don't keep your mouth shut if you think they're doing something wrong.

Of course I don't expect you to understand, what with Russia being a military dictatorship for so long and all.

Of course... Of course...

I noticed you have a deep hatred toward Russia. No, not because of this thread.
You showed yourself many times before, in many threads (i had no personal interaction with you though).

You must be a Ukrainian? Ah, well, doesn't matter. Ukrainian or not - russophobe either way (JerkMuted long time ago).
Good bye. You will disturb me no longer™.

zeogold: >implying that the government isn't this same set of rich people trying to control things
I have some bad news for you, friend.
avatar
vsr: This doesn't mean you should destroy everything, just because someone is rich.
Who said anything about destroying anything? My point is that the government lies just like anybody else, for very similar reasons.
avatar
vsr: You already live in '1984'.
>implying Russia hasn't been living like this for years

vsr: Not terrible at all. Think yourself. He many times said that USA will not be involved in other country's politics: no revolutions, no invasions (Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yugoslavia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, <God knows what more>...) under his rule. Many times he said that Russia is not an enemy (Hillary, a lackey of oligarchy, said exactly the opposite).
One aspect is common in all of this. The word "said". However, as history has proven time and time again, what politicians SAY are often quite different from what they DO. As I said, this is why I intend to reserve my judgement after I see what actions are taken.

You JerkMuted him a long time ago and still read his posts somehow? Criticism of your government is somehow "russophobia"? In that case, are you an "ameriphobe" for criticizing OUR government?

I ask questions in order to be more informed on the subject and reasonably form my opinion. If you don't question things when forming an opinion, you're walking into it completely blind.
So, basically you're saying that you have no answers for me or would rather ignore/not address my points, considering your response is basically "lol go look it up"? An honest "I'm not sure how to answer" would be appreciated rather than an insult, which, if you have to revert to in order to defend your point, is a good indicator that your position is terribly weak.

Why don't you go to your alternative forum instead of picking fights here?

Perhaps because I'm interested in hearing the reasoning behind his actual position on the matter, thus furthering my knowledge on said subject rather than a dismissive "just look it up"? Since when is presentation of an argument or desiring clarification on the other person's points "picking a fight"?

Now, do you have anything to contribute to this discussion, or would you rather add another such "get out" complaint?

Reading your tone towards VSR (and to me) is more like bullying rather than being authentically "interested".

As for contributing, I would have answered the post N°38 by Thyrrhia by pointing out the current case of Mehdi Meklat which fits the thread perfectly but as people here are oblivious about France, I refrained to do it. One linked article for "interested" people:

And yet another forum user I thought was a nice guy going off the deep end. This place is like Arkham Asylum. If you're not crazy already, this place will drive you to it.

Oh, I assure you, I'm far from angry, nor do I intend to bully either of you. My tone towards vsr only changed somewhat after he decided to say "your questions annoy me, look it up" rather than bothering to answer, in which caused more amusement out of me than anything else. Quite similarly with your response to that.

Is there an English translation of the article? I can't read a lick of French.

Quite an interesting read despite my mediocre french language skills. Please feel free to provide any more info as I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in the current french political landscape.
Hell, the news just mentioned Marine Le Pen's headquarters being raided by the police pending an ongoing investigation.
Well. This veered pretty quickly off topic.
I don't know man. When Pewdiepie, who I think based on his actual actions we can all assume sympathizes with a more liberal viewpoint, and has made it pretty clear that he doesn't object to your religion, sex, or tastes so long as they don't interfere with his; and Trump, who we can pretty safely say objects to your everything unless you share his exact tastes and style, and leans heavily conservative, come together to agree that media has a problem, it might be time to start asking questions about the media as it currently stands...

Not that I suppose that wasn't ever obvious. Never trust anything you read unless you can verify it yourself. Who knows who's pulling the strings... It's just these days they're not even trying to hide the fact that they're lying, and people are STILL just eating it up like it was written by the hand of the lord...

The Google Translate version is more or less accurate but I don't know if the link will work
https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=fr&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lefigaro.fr%2Factualite-france%2F2017%2F02%2F19%2F01016-20170219ARTFIG00157-d-anciens-tweets-injurieux-d-un-chroniqueur-du-bondy-blog-provoquent-un-tolle.php&edit-text=

Now, as a general remark on the forum (and this kind of thread deviations like confronting US and Russia), I took GOG as a somehow potential interesting place as the country is specified thus it would have provided some different insights/perspectives even in strong disagreements but somehow it always quickly ends up in useless posts (or low ratings) mostly due to a lack of common grounds. It's particularly obvious when I can read daily posting fights between French nationalists and islamists which in the end always end up to some interesting stuff (even if they openly hate each other). The fact that they live in the same land with the same "problems" (but from opposite sides) gives them at least a common ground. On the contrary, there are much more "cultural" differences between GOG users from US, France, Germany, UK or Russia thus leading to unavoidable misunderstandings. That's why I'm not participating in this kind of thread anymore as it's just a waste of time. And as you created another forum just to avoid the GOG mess I found it irritating that you would add oil on the fire wth VSR.
