StingingVelvet: People just love the games, it is what it is. Maybe not you, or Dejavous, but millions of people.
Sounds about right, can't argue with that. Still, I would've wished for something different. More engaging and thought-provoking.

I just try to take games for what they are. Fallout 3 lacks in those areas dramatically, but it's very fun for what it is IMO. New Vegas is maybe in my top ten games at this point and Fallout 3 wouldn't get into the top 100, but it is what it is.

I guess I hold Fallout 3 in higher regards as I judged it less as a Fallout game and more as their 'next game after Oblivion' and found it to be a HUGE improvement in almost every regard.

tinyE: well shit, should I get #3 or not? :P
Yes by all means buy fallout 3 and have fun as it crashes if you open the wrong door or it crashes if you turn around too fast!

Dejavous: pay to win with CC delivering the best gear/options.
there is also another article that states there will be no "external" mods available meaning if you want mods you have to pay for them through CC, this is EXACTLY what I predicted when they dumped CC on us.

DubConqueror: What is CC?

Re: opinions on Fallout. I got to know the series with Fallout 3 and it's the only one I played so far (still doubting if I'll play Fallout or FO:NV next), but I enjoyed the game a lot, mostly because of the exploration aspect, but the story (as well as the fact that you can mold the character's face in the opening to your liking) made me get attached to the main character as well.
DubConqueror if you loved fallout 3 You'll LOVE NV NV is 3 times better the fallout 3 and is MOSTY bug free! and has AMAZING QUESTS AND EXPLORATION! did you know in fallout NV you can join the brotherhood faction and they have an underground base and it's fun getting LOTS of power armor and amazing Named weapon and Named armor FINDS when exploring, I'm serious.

The only thing that sucked ass in fallout NV was you had to chose a Faction in the end.

The ONLY things I use settlements for is

Mutfruit+Corn+tato=Vegetable Starch.

Vegetable Starch Scrapped is ADHESIVE!

CC = Creation Club bascially PAID mods that don't effect survival mode by putting a big (M) on your savegame

StingingVelvet: Where did you read that Morrowind sold more than Oblivion?
On The Internet, obviously >.>

Yeah, I was wrong. The source I was using was wrong and I didn't check my source. Oblivion has sold almost twice as many copies as Morrowind, globally, according to Bethesda's numbers.

I still say Morrowind was their big hit, though it's a much weaker argument now that I know the right numbers ^_^ It had sold millions of copies before Oblivion came out, and recovered the dev costs several times over.

StingingVelvet: People who mod the hell out of Bethesda games always act like that's the only way to play them, I've seen this over and over, but it's really not. I don't know how else to say it.
Of course it isn't the only way to play them. But it is the best way to play them =D

Gede: Oh, I have totally forgotten that Fallout 4 existed. But since it is not on GOG, it does not matter much.

How would people here sort the Fallout titles from best to worse?
avatar
StingingVelvet: Fallout 2
Fallout New Vegas
Fallout
Fallout 4
Fallout 3

I really don't get putting 4 below 3. Yes the new dialog system is balls but the enhanced shooting, better writing and faction systems with actual choice and consequence more than make up for it. It's not New Vegas level stuff but it's miles above FO3.
Fallout NEW Vegas
Fallout
Fallout 2
Fallout 4 and falllout 3 are both tied for me as I find them just Boring bad stories and Rotten Bugs also Rotten CTD's

tinyE: better, Fallout 3 or NV? I have stumbled upon very dissenting opinions here.
I leaning toward NV and then #3.

Everyone here is forgetting about Fallout Tactics. After all, most people know that only three Fallout games were ever made. Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. It's odd that no more Fallout games were ever made, but that's just the way it is. Underrail is sort of an unofficial sequel, though.

There were two fallout games made. Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.

Two games released. I would have been much less sad about Fallout 3 if I had never heard about or gotten to see Van Buren.
Did anyone see this coming:

Either Bethsoft is going to put CC into fallout 3 and New Vegas Or they are upgrading the engine and game:

Wouldn't surprise me if they're going all in now considering Fallout 76 is also likely to be micro transaction heaven

the good news is that you can ignore CC completely. it is just mods only, and you can get them elsewhere like Nexus. I got over 100 hours on F4 now, and never clicked that button once
