Most of Bioware's games in the last ten years are "Baby's First WRPG". They were mine.

Dragon Age is a good place to start, but I would actually make my way backwards nowadays from newest to oldest, since Origins is the most complex out of those.

More on the indie side, Shadowrun Dragonfall is quite simple and beginner friendly as well.

Definitely don't start with The Witcher. There's a reason why so many people give up on the game. The first act is both boring and seemingly interminable.

tinyE: I keep quitting that game because of the combat! :P It's a mess and requires waaaaaaaaaaaay too much timing. Skip #1 and play W2, they fixed all of that crap. Or just take amok's advice and play Oblivion or Skyrim.
Combat in The Witcher 1 is extremely simple...actually quite primitive I'd say. It's just a matter of clicking at the right time, and unless one has some kind of disability it shouldn't be that hard. I managed and I don't have good reflexes.
It was pretty boring though. Not sure I'd recommend the Witcher 1 as a beginner's game anyway, depends on what one wants...its take on fantasy is pretty non-standard, and it doesn't have a party, mages, thieves etc.
I'd like to see a beginners party get totally wiped by three Caco Fiends in Baldur's Gate 2. I was min/maxing with a walkthrough and a war/mage I barely survived those things.

There are only a few places in Baldur's Gate 2 where that can happen to you. It's true that there are a few quests (like the Planar sphere) that can end disastrously for a low level party, but on the whole the difficulty isn't that great. One just has to frequently save in case something goes wrong.
I played it back in 2001, and had hardly any experience with rpgs before that (only had played Albion), and didn't have that many problems, it's very doable.
But it really depends anyway what the OP wants...single character or party? High fantasy or something darker?

I should be able to finally try that! :D

viperfdl: Driftmoon is as far as I remember quite easy.
Yes, Driftmoon for sure.
Torchlight 2 or Titan Quest when they are on sale.
How about Grim Dawn? Never played it, but it sounds pretty easy to get into, and is 70 % off

Grim Dawn on GOG does not have the vast multi-player like Steam does, and they are about the same price. Also in my meager opinion, the price is generally lower, whether "on sale" or not, because of severe performance issues with some computer systems. Not everyone has issues, but they do exist enough. As stated by the developers, the graphics engine is not the issue.

Otherwise, it is nice. The multi-player loot options reign vastly superior to Titan Quest as well.

Those are RPGs in the same way a bag of popcorn is a meal.

Popcorn, honey, and edamame work quite well, thank you very much! =D

While I would agree with what you are saying about those games, I do eat popcorn for dinner all the time. :P
I totally recommend giving Dragon Age: Origins a try

Diablolikes aren't "true" CRPG-s. And Grim Dawn is quite complex diablolike.
