The download service of GOG is very unstable recently. [1] [2]
If you don't backup DRM-free installers, why you use GOG?
Some other stores have much more games and their prices are cheaper.

I use GOG because I enjoy owning my games, having the choice to back them up when I want and to play fully offline when I want but also having a solid client option to keep things organized. I'm not against backing up your entire library (that's part of the beautiful rights you get with DRM-free) but I don't know how some minor server instability implies people need to panic-download their backup installers.

It’s the continuing cyberwar Russia has been engaged in for decades now. Ransomware, hacking etc. nothing new. It’s likely intensified in the wake of recent events. With the propaganda machine in full swing here I don’t expect gogs security to hold much longer, I know other companies who have had complete system downs just in the last few weeks.
I quite agree, it’s time to backup everything you own and pull that internet plug.
While I agree that one should always backup one's DRM free products after purchase right after purchase, I disagree with this thread.

If the download service is unstable at the moment, wouldn't it make it even more unstable, if everyone would (re)download their whole collection right now?

Probably paid Putin shills DDOS'ing the site in revenge for their stance.
