richlind33: If it isn't true it means CDP is fully responsible for the gimped customer support. If CDP is leveraged the way most corporations are, they have little or nothing in the way of liquidity, and with the hit their reputation has taken, borrowing costs will have substantially increased. Given the current state of the global economy, this is not a good time to be a company with marginal fundamentals, so I think the state of GOG's customer support reflects necessity rather than pure greed.

I'll see if I can find the statement I'm referring to. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

schwartzag: What has been gimped about the customer support specifically? I haven't had any need to utilize it for a long time so I don't know what this is referring to.
Everything that can't be handled with store credit takes weeks or months to be resolved.

Also, kindly note how gog has been "having issues" in Mainland China for months. When I opened a thread speculating that they got firewalled, it got locked by SmollestLight. When I opened another thread, it was nuked within less than 2 minutes and I got a monthlong ban. Here's a screencap of that thread. I encouraged SmollestLight to make some sort of statement on the Chinese subforums (if nothing else, it will let users know that they are aware of these "issues"), to no avail.

You should always back up your games, regardless if GOG is going to die or not.
I don't think GOG is going to die soon though. Unless Steam suddenly decides that DRM free offline installers are a good thing and gives their clients that option.

Why is every post in this thread low rated?
