So Astroneer got out of alpha about a month ago, and after spent about 100 hour in the game now I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
at heart it is still an explorer and survival game, but it is very forgiving and fun to play. With a bit of planning and strategy it is easy enough to go through the research needed for different equipment and pretty soon you are whipping around from planet to planet collecting the resources you need. Yes, you need to go to dofferent planets, as each is very individual and have different resources. Dont expect an actiony game, there are no mobs, except a few hostile plants, but the fun lies in the exploration and gradual expansion.
IT has turned out to be an interesting and relaxing game to play. It has an end game and a purpose , you might want to figure out what it if for yourself, but if not then read on
each planet has a certain amount of warp gates on the surface that need activating, you need to power them up to do so. The more difficult a planet is, the more power each gate needs. When at least one one warp gate on a planet (or moon) has been, you need to go into the center of the planet and activate that (each planet requires a different type of material to do so). You can then get a core from each planet, which in turn is used on a strange alien satellite to.... I will leave it at that.....
Bottom line, it is a very good game which, while it may not be everyone cup of tea, is highly recommended.
It's been on my wishlist ever since they announced that it would support Linux. Apparently it works well with Steamplay...
