Darvond: Well, to be honest, I had seen a few plays of this, and they ended with the same problem. You quickly ran out of content in the game. I see according to the wiki, progress is slow.
well, I have spent over 25 hours in the game. I expect it get sick of it at some point but I am not there yet, there is still too much to explore. So monies to entertainment vale, it is better than many other games. There is supposed to be an end-game in the final version, but have to wait and see if that materialises

Been looking into the game. Seriously considering buying it. I loose interest in the creative part of these games after a bit though, and need to distract myself with other things for a while. Thats why I prefer the survival stuff in these types of games. Since Astroneer doesn't have combat or anything, im wondering what else there is to do besides building, and harvesting. Is there cool stuff out there to find right now, or in the future? Like alien ruins, or abandoned bases, or whatever.

EDIT:
I went back and watched the trailers again, and both those things look like they might be in the game already. Guess I should have paid more attention the first time.

I've played the Humble version of Kerbal and I see no Astroneer anywhere other than Steam/Steam key sites but I have been following it in case it goes DRM-Free someday.

Either way, this game would definitely sell on GOG.
Im not sure how long this game will hold my attention, so I was leaning twords "No" on the purchase. I listen to ambient music occasionally though, so I checked out a little of the Astroneer soundtrack on YouTube. Its lovely. I really like it. I'll at least get use out of that. It made it a lot easier to justify buying the game, so I went for it.

Man. I sure cluttered up this thread, didn't I?

So Astroneer got out of alpha about a month ago, and after spent about 100 hour in the game now I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

at heart it is still an explorer and survival game, but it is very forgiving and fun to play. With a bit of planning and strategy it is easy enough to go through the research needed for different equipment and pretty soon you are whipping around from planet to planet collecting the resources you need. Yes, you need to go to dofferent planets, as each is very individual and have different resources. Dont expect an actiony game, there are no mobs, except a few hostile plants, but the fun lies in the exploration and gradual expansion.

IT has turned out to be an interesting and relaxing game to play. It has an end game and a purpose , you might want to figure out what it if for yourself, but if not then read on

each planet has a certain amount of warp gates on the surface that need activating, you need to power them up to do so. The more difficult a planet is, the more power each gate needs. When at least one one warp gate on a planet (or moon) has been, you need to go into the center of the planet and activate that (each planet requires a different type of material to do so). You can then get a core from each planet, which in turn is used on a strange alien satellite to.... I will leave it at that.....

Bottom line, it is a very good game which, while it may not be everyone cup of tea, is highly recommended.

It's been on my wishlist ever since they announced that it would support Linux. Apparently it works well with Steamplay...
