Nope, have no interest in them but also no problem with them, especially since they've been tagged so there's not even a "risk" of accidentally checking one out. Just skip over everything with that tag, no problem. With that tag, don't even see why they'd call for a separate forum section, at least when we don't even have it split between gaming and non-gaming, or GOG-related and not...

Warloch_Ahead: I didn't even know we had forum games. I don't even know how they're played. Unless I accidentally participated in one without knowing.
Well, they're quite clearly tagged... See below.

Hard to be annoyed by something you have zero interest in because I can just not click on it.

Oops, now I remember. I guess I too just gloss over them without thought, like how I ignore junk data.

Orkhepaj: yup they should be removed
Wouldn’t go that far if someone enjoys it why not offer that option. Tastes are different

DreamerKnightX: Adding forum games subforum is actually a great idea. I wonder if it would prove too much hassle for GOG to create such a subforum under General Forums.
If I remember correctly, not so long ago, one of the blues hinted that they would be looking into the possibility of a dedicated subforum for the forum games.
However - the blue also said it would not be very high on their priority list (again: IIRC).
And GOG being GOG - such things take time, even under the best circumstances.

I would , perma remove them , they are bad for children and humanity.

DreamerKnightX: I want to begin by saying that I find forum games amusing, educational even as I feel they are helping with my English, not to mention general communication skills. I always wanted to try "Forum Mafia" as it seems like a ton of fun too.

But as an active participant in many of the forum games I feel that my view on them may be a bit skewed, so here's my question to all of you not participating - do you find forum games annoying? If you do, could you elaborate why?
I don't feel annoyed. They can be entertaining and as long as members have fun with them that's fine. Since there is a great number of them it wouldn't hurt if they had their own forum. If there were also dedicated News, Announcements, Complaints/Suggestions, Entertainment, Movies, Music && Book Discussion forums? That would be even better. This would free up the GD section for just that: Everything else that doesn't fit into any of the other categories. :-)

Personally after reading through this thread I started to lean more towards the users' ability to ignore threads, although it would most likely be harder to implement than splitting the forums. My guess is even those not really annoyed by forum games would benefit as they could ignore other perpetual threads they don't find interesting too. As Cavalary and Mori_Yuki pointed out though, it would look weird to say the least if they added "Forum Games" while there are basically only general forums and game specific forums at the moment.

OR they could just add both options, since I don't see why anyone wouldn't want either of them. BTW am I the only one who finds GOG forums to be a bit primitive, mechanics-wise?

I'll definitely check it out, thank you for the invitation. :)
No.
Besides, if you removed them the rest of the threads would be trolls trolling and people talking about... well... let's say Adolf would have wet dreams about some "opinionists" here on the forum.

Edit: conisder I'm not annoyed even without participating in any of them.

Of course not. The forum has basically been unchanged since GOG launched, and with very rare and minor exceptions (like the recent hiding of the display of rep) that's how it'll stay, as from what has been said before the people who initially worked on it have long since left GOG and the current staff, probably trained just on the freshest and newest stuff, wouldn't know how to deal with such an old codebase.
I participated in forum games a few times, and quickly lost interest afterwards. While I won't miss them, if it's harmless fun, go ahead.

It's the overwhelming negativity that some people display that is more annoying than anything. There are times when legitimate complaints need to be addressed, but then there those who feel to the need to bash anything outside their interest any chance they get.

Nope. I even participate in them. It's a forum and people can discuss whatever they want as long as it doesn't go against the terms of use, moderation rules or the standard of decency.
The forum games are not a problem. Having them in the primary forum area, is. It just clutters up the main stage. The games should be moved to their own section. Apart from that, they pass the time I guess for some folks.
