Just wondering. Love Monty Python, but don`t know any other satire from the UK.

No.
Steve Bell.
The Thick of It, maybe?
I can't stand shows like it, but it seems to be pretty highly regarded as political satire. They also made a movie called In the Loop, which was actually released in Germany under the title "Kabinett außer Kontrolle". Personally speaking, I hated that one, too.

Uh... Monty Python IS NOT satire.

Try Spitting Image, Drop the Dead Donkey, Rory Bremner or even the panel shows like Mock the Week etc.

Asking such a stupid question proves something at least!

yes but it is dated as hell by now
The UK banned satire long ago. Now they're just a nation of Muslims and sad old people that read gossip mags. And as we all know, satire is not the strong suit of Muslims and old people.

Only to a degree - it wasnt a satire show, and they were not exactly a satirical bunch, but did do some satrical stuff.
Much like monty python. check the shows I listed for some actual satire.

though you were right on the nail with The Thick of It - thats actual political satire.

Yes Prime Minister and The New Statesman, Blackadder etc are also good examples.

Margaret Thatcher! :D
My uncle read Private Eye regularly. I'd see it less often at my parents' home, though. Much of it was over my head, as I wasn't in Britain often enough to keep up.

Also, anything featuring David Mitchell is usually pretty good.
What about Edgar H. Wright? Wasn't Cornetto Trilogy good enough? ; )

Excuse me Sir *being said in the best english voice*

You are wrong my fellow ;)

One reason why Monty Python is being seen as satire, is because of their only film which is a satire/comedy at the same time:

Life of Bryan ;)

And unfortunate, THAT is the only film being shown really often ;)

So people have the wrong impression, as they only have this in mind ;) Those ignorant bastards, they can not get away with it, BURN THEM RIGHT AWAY!

1: dont come at me with that fake edwardian internet bollocks of "sir" and "my good fellow" - its crap.
2: So you mean I am actually right.
3: the OP specifically asked for "political satire" in his title, then referenced Monty Python. That makes me right again.
4: Stop trolling - every thread I see you in, you are trolling. Dont be a numpty. TA!

I hope you are using only film to refer to Life of Bryan being their only satirical film (without getting into a debate about whether that is the case or not) and not just completely forgetting the existence of the Monty Python and The Holy Grail, as that Sir, would be unforgivable! ;)

As for good political satire... Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister are among the best I'd say, and still incredibly relevant despite their age. There's also a host of panel shows (Mock the Week, The News Quiz (radio program), Have I Got News For You among others) that do mostly political satire, although I think whether you like them or not is largely down to taste...

If your looking for books I'd say Pratchett's have a hell of a lot of satire, political and otherwise, in them and are generally brilliant anyway.
