Gilozard: Reading the latest on the UK's war on anything the ministers don't like, I can't imagine that effective political satire will last for long. https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20150624/22563431447/uk-politician-theresa-may-tries-to-out-orwell-orwell-with-insanely-authoritarian-speech.shtml
Things might look grim but I wouldn't say all is lost, for the following reason: Whenever the Authoritarians face the slightest bit of resistance, they react by going off the deep end and come up with even more in(s)ane motions. This naturally creates more resistance because even the most gullible and indifferent citizens have a tolerance threshold for high grade nonsense and ultimately self-preservation instinct kicks in. There is already enough resistance to trigger the Authoritarians into panic mode so while it looks like things are getting worse, things might have (tentatively) started to get better already.

So while there is no limit to Authoritarian premium grade BS , there is a limit to what regular people can take. Meaning that the Authoritarians have almost maxed out and are already losing ground in some places.
The problem is that the retroactive damage is already serious but I don't think there's absolutely no way to slowly fix things back to normal.

As for satire, sometimes real life provides the best kind. Check out the following video which I thought was a comedy sketch but it's an undercover interview with the Assistant Dean of Students at Cornell University:

Hidden camera: Cornell dean approves campus ISIS club
The Daily Mash is a great news satire site:

Newsthump is similar but not as good I think:

grimwerk: My uncle read Private Eye regularly. I'd see it less often at my parents' home, though. Much of it was over my head, as I wasn't in Britain often enough to keep up.

VanishedOne: Sometimes even living here isn't enough: they've started to feature a cartoon called Camberwick Greenbelt, which presumably resonates with people old enough to remember Camberwick Green...
That would've lost me for certain. Perhaps one day they'll do a joint issue with The Beano. That'd be more my speed.

Emob78: I'm not sure which is worse, that what I said kinda sounded racist, or the fact that no one yet from the UK has been offended by or disagreed with my comment... which lends me to believe that there may be some truth to it. I don't know, never been there. Just like all Americans, I like to make profound comments about things that I don't know jack shit about.

Either way, in a few years all those Muslims will be senior citizens, and we don't have much to be concerned about from old Muslims, so I guess I can see where that bit of social engineering made some sense. See guys, I'm doing your satire for ya. You don't want us stupid American muppets to upset your jollies, do ya? I think it's time you all brought back The Young Ones. Just put Ricky Gervais in charge of it and let 'er rip.
I took your post as satire. :)

Monkeydelarge's not so much...

Also, I hope you're joking about letting Gervais anywhere near The Young Ones!

Of course I was joking... well, sort of. I just assumed that Hollywood would put Gervais in charge of anything British, as Hollywood seems to be under the impression that the only funny man left in the UK is Gervais. He has become the Seth Rogan of British comedy. I guess you could also put Russell Brand in there somewhere, but to this day I'm not entirely sure what he does for a living. I think he just goes on talk shows to pitch his own clothing line.

Mr. D™: Just wondering. Love Monty Python, but don`t know any other satire from the UK.

Sachys: Uh... Monty Python IS NOT satire.
Urm.. Ministry of Silly Walks, Ministry of putting things on top of other things, The proposal for the council tower block that's actually a human abattoir, 'It's a Dogs Life in the Britsh Army' and, like, the whole of Life of Brian are plenty satirical ACTUALLY!

Well Russell Brand also pretends to understand politics sometimes. But yeah, I'm not sure exactly what he does for a living either.

that doesnt make everything by Monty Python satire though. They were a surreal comedic troupe given to all manner of humour, but not exclusively one way or another. Hence my statement. Specifically, the OP asked about political satire.
