"GOG’s response seems to be to start curating the games they carry more heavily, thus giving more attention to each title that comes on their platform. That approach worked very well for Steam in the past, and it’s an approach I understand and can respect. Unfortunately through this process they looked at a quite-incomplete build of Starward and decided not to carry the game, so that really backfired on us in that instance."

This likely explains the initial rejection...

Saberwolf_Prime: Bionic Dues is a good game, sad to hear it hasn't made a profit.

Potzato: I personally felt very disappointed by bionic dues when I bought it here , that's why I never picked any other of their games. However, I don't remember ever patching it so maybe this explains that.
Bionic dues has a built in patcher, pulling updates from a server.

Personally i love Bionic dues, although the story/ending is a little bare bones.
I really hope Arcen Games will be able to pull through. Bionic Dues and Last Federation were really fun games! I wonder if there is a chance we'll see Starward Rogue on GOG...

I agree, overall I love Bionic Dues and I love finding a rare gem like it and tell others about it. The soundtrack is so appropriate it hurts (the main theme feels like straight from a cheesy-good Anime). The art style is charming. The enemies are hilarious, and intentionally stupid ("Dumbot, I choose you!"). I know some people griped on the enemy AI, but if it's intentional I don't see a problem.

The story is very basic, and I think the backstory of the playable characters should have been fleshed out much more, even with 1-2 unique side quests. Yes the ending "just happens" without anything special at all.

Actually the AI was pretty good, the best AI is probably the snipers and the treadbots since they don't hold any punches.

However to keep it from being too hard and keep it lighthearted there's flavor-text for each bot type saying how it was programmed. Eagle only goes from side to side, one bot moves in a random direction every round even though he's aiming at you, one will use a rocket launcher and block up nearby garbage so you can't hide behind them, another won't shoot unless he has an adjacent companion, etc.

Then there's the audio samples of the robots talking.

"I meant to do that!"
"Maybe i shouldn't have bought gold ammo"
"Boo!"

The flavor text of the landscape is funny too. Like explosive runes, which is a reference to the D&D spell (3rd level) of the same name.

Yeah, the execution of the AI was solid and you're right Snipers are dangerous. I liked the variety of enemies and their various behaviors. The flavor text also gives the game a lot of character ( I totally stepped on those mines), and audio samples had me laughing too.

It really shows Arcen Games had fun making Bionic Dues.

Hahaha, Ahh boy... Most of the humor and fun is in the flavor text. The pistol the science mech gets is fun too. It does something about

1)You're Surprised, this thing works (It was from the science department afterall)
2)Your enemies are surprised this thing works (and it keeps them from moving!)
3)Your enemies forget to take their turn

So much subtle fun...

Oh, but don't forget the "MechLab"! I've spent a good amount of time upgrading my Exos, and occasionally buying stuff from the 'black market'. Very similar to the MechWarrior 4 games* :)

*minus that brief lag when loading weapons onto mechs because of XML sluggishness (I think).

Haven't noticed this. Where did you find this statement. If that is true it might be possible for them to resubmit the game for release now that its finished.

It's mentioned by Chris Park in the comments section.

Ah, ok. Thanks.
I wish GOG would actually get all their properties on here. *HINT*.
(Valley, Skyward...)

I, personally, would not buy Starward Rogue, even were it on GOG right now, due to roguelike-fatigue. I am, however, looking forward to Stars Beyond Reach...

Shame. I decided to pick up their latest DLC for Last Federation on release day to support these guys.

Matruchus: Chris ...that he would release it here if it were up to him (he's the ceo) so I guess other games got on the wrong side of gog.
Indies have CEOs now? How curious.

Let's just say some Indies are less Indie than others...
