Somewhere far, far away there was an accident in which a bear fell through a portal leading to a backwater planet called Earth.
Testing after clearing site data from www.gog.com...in FireFox x64 DE...it worked...;)

If you have FF x64 DE, then go to Options/Privacy and Security/Cookies and Site Data/Manage Data....look for the website www.gog.com and remove it. Click "save changes". Go back to the Gog website--when you try you will be logged out--just log back in, and you will see your forum avatar is now right-side up...;)

I tried deleting gog cookies and think it didn't work, had to log in again with 2 step verification. Don't know how to clean cache on firefox esr 52.9.0 since i only have options like history or cookies. I can't find the cache.
Edit i found the cache and deleted it guess it didn't help.

Well, I cleared all cache (and gog-related cookies) from firefox and then logged in again. Still upside down.
Clearing the cache won't help you, guys...

Inb4 they charge you $99.5 instead of $5.99 ;-)
My avatar is blurry by default, maybe a site limitation to resolution.

It fixed it for me, just fine. I forgot to add, though, that before I deleted the ww.gog.com site info and cookies, I had re-uploaded my avatar--which was also upside down. Re-uploading my avatar to right-side up positioning didn't correct the problem by itself, but after I deleted the gog.com cookie, returned to www.gog.com and signed in again, then I saw that the forum image was and still is right-side up!...;)

So:
1) Re-upload your avatar
2) Delete the www.gog.com site cookie from your browser
3) return to the gog.com site and sign in (if you don't have to sign in after you deleted your cookie, then you deleted the wrong gog.cookie. I had several variations of www.gog.com cookies.)

...that should fix it.

...Or, even better, wait until it's fixed the proper way.

I personally won't go through the above process just to "patch" this behavior. It is something GOG should fix because it indicates a problem on their side.

Well, to each his own, but what I described *is* the proper way to do it. Sometimes cookies & caches pertaining to certain websites get screwed up, bugs exist, stuff happens--that's what causes the upside-down problem here. It's rare, but as you can see it does happen once in a blue moon. In all my years on Gog forums it has never happened--that's how rare it is. A GOG employee has already weighed in on the matter in this thread--it was his suggestion that led me to fix it as he suggested. I just outlined the steps a bit more for those who might feel "challenged" by them.

It's not really much of a "process"--takes all of one minute or less--truly. No, it's not a GOG problem "on their side" because if it was then cleaning my site cookies for ww.gog.com would have no effect at all since those cookies reside on my hard drive, and are stored by my local browser. Again, if it was a Gog-side problem then I wouldn't be able to fix it by simply removing then reinitializing my browser's www.gog.com site cookies.

It's your call to wait on Gog to fix something local on your system, but you might be waiting a long time...;) This is simply a good lesson to tuck under your belt as to how certain things work on your computer & browser. You might have to do it again for some other site for some other reason. Gog cannot reach into your browser on your PC and correct the problem--it's just a simple housekeeping chore that everyone who owns a PC should learn. This kind of thing doesn't happen often, but it can happen on any website you frequent--like suddenly your automatic sign-in doesn't work on a particular site, etc. Might have to do it again some day. But it really is rare, which is a good thing, imo...;)

Yeah, that doesn't work.

Of course, every opinion is respectable - not arguing here, just to be clear :)

I personally believe that in this case it actually is GOG's problem. How can multiple users' avatars suddenly appear upside down at the same time? What is the possibility of that happening locally for each user at the same time without some bug on GOG's side triggering it?

The only way to achieve that would be if all affected users used the same browser and got a new update that messed things up. But if I am not mistaken, different browsers have reproduced the issue.

In any case, most people here agree that these forums are more or less abandoned development-wise. GOG seems to be prioritizing other stuff (for good or bad) and problems such as this are continuously transferred to the back of the queue (which is weird, since a queue is FIFO - ok, programmer humor).

Anyway, I will keep my avatar as is for now just to see when the problem gets fixed.

it even happened with my phone that has never even visited gog before without signing in.
OK, so suddenly the issue is gone :)

The image appeared correctly after I replied directly to GOG's post in today's new releases thread.

Could it be related or just a coincidence? Now I'm even more curious...
