Zorzy: The only way I can think of they would respond is if they got hit financially. Just like with the shitfest called Cyberpunk 2077.
Well GOG's finances were near the red before, and with the CyPnk2077 problems they'll likely get less money from CDPR/CDP(which they seem to often use to keep afloat)....so there's a chance if enough financial pressure is put on them(via people not buying or buying less) they might reverse their decision.

I am not holding out much hope, though(as they often seem set in their decisions once they make them).....but there is some hope at least.

If they respond, I expect they will just offer a generic apology while deftly dodging to answer the why question.

Why is it important they'd give some detailed explanation, when everyone already knows why?

What would it change, other than continuing pointless arguments with their customers who are trying to explain GOG why their decision was "wrong"?

Damn snowflakes...

Lesser Blight Elemental: If they come out with a brutally honest response of "we got flooded with threats by CCP shills that made it clear that we won't be able to do business in the PRC if we release this game, and that's too big of a market for us to be locked out of"... well, it won't really change anything in practice, but at least they'll no longer be insulting our intelligence by blaming it on "gamers".
While we don't know the truth, it's worth pointing out that, conceivably, such threats could also include the condition that GOG has to blame "gamers" or give other reasons. In other words, it's theoretically possible that if GOG was told they couldn't release the game, it's also possible that GOG was told they couldn't even hint at the reasons why.

If that is the case I honestly sympathize with GOG. But again we are talking in the realm of speculation, who knows what is actually the case. Posters could also speculate that GOG initiated this controversy on their own in order to deflect heat away from Cyberpunk (seemingly unlikely, but still). We don't really have a clearer picture.

It'd likely show that GOG has some principles and create some good will among the userbase, as well as some good PR for GOG.

A humble request: maybe you could try not name calling people who are (mainly) just passionately expressing how they feel?

(Note: I don't mean the ones posting rude and crude posts on the topic, but the more civil posters)

Hey, if they want to be known as Blizzard 2.0, it's their choice.

Except they don't have a very popular MMORPG, lots of lootbox-infested multiplayer trash (just the one) or a strong presence in the mobile market. What they have instead is a store that sets itself apart by selling classic games and DRM-free games. I seriously doubt the average PRC gamer gives a hoot about either, or about GOG.

My guess is that they want to change that with Cyperpunk 2077 MP version. Make it DRM/server based with microtransactions/lootboxes/whatever and it may be quite attractive for Chinese gamers.

That's cool that you are OK with a corporation lying to you and trying to turn the blame around on you and your kind (especially a "for gamers, by gamers" one), but I'm not. Enjoy being manipulated though, hey.

Well I guess it's safe to say they're most likely not going to address it, especially being that they are posting new game releases & still making no comment.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: The only reason they haven't said anything is because they are trying to duck the issue and hope it blows over, rather than telling the truth and/or reversing their terrible decision.
Yes, they are hoping all this will go away and people will keep buying games anyway. I don't expect to hear any response.

On the contrary. The silence is the answer.

They haven't.
I just put in my request for my account deletion, so I'll see you guys on other forums hopefully.
It was fun though, these forums were one of the best parts of GOG!
Happy holidays to y'all, see ya

The new game releases were the statement, and that statement was: "Look at the jingly keys! Don't worry about those silly old lies because look! Shiny!"

I think it's more about CP2077, than devotion. They probably weren't expecting the backlash, but knew CP2077 was gonna bomb. Either way, the theory is most likely true, because you'd think they'd try to postpone the releases so they had more time to address the refund requests and the like.
