snowkatt: that street fighter movie however was ass
Oh lord, don't remind me. I can't think of one positive thing to say about that "movie". Even Uwe Boll could probably do something slightly better

i can

raul julia was wonderfully over the top

the end credits were great

aaaand thats about it
I am still waiting for that fantastic Doom movie! Oh wait...
Never been interested in WoW, not interested in the movie.
And the video game movie with the record for the most people walking out before the opening credits even finished: PIXELS!

almabrds: I haven't watched yet, so I can't say if it's deserved, or not.
It is undeserved. Most critics missed the point about the movie, same as with the first Silent Hill movie, which was also a great game adaptation. Very good realization of the game world and characters (though not exactly canon to the lore). The orcs was especially well made.

almabrds: Blizzard is having a good profit with the movie, so that may motive them to make a sequel.
good, looking forward to it.

almabrds: Did you like the movie
yes

almabrds: would you like a sequel??
yes

Did you like the movie, and would you like a sequel??
I really wasn't tempted by this movie when I saw the trailer when it was released because I hate those kind of LOTR-like wannabe movies. So I can't really comment.

But to add my 2 cents, one of the best movie adapatation was imho Dead Or Alive since the base material is already very dumb, it made no excuses whatsoever and just provided non-sense fun all through. And as a big bonus,it was directed by Corey Yuen who made a lot of classics during the Hong-Kong golden era so he knew what the word "action" meant when making DOA.
Am I the only one who doesn't give a s**t about Rotten Tomatoes?
IMDB for the win!
Oh, and I liked Warcraft :P

EDIT: ugh guys.. Mortal Kombat a good movie?
The theme was great, some scenes were cool, but.. overall it was crap!

snowkatt: considering one of the best video game movies was mortal kombat for the past 20 years

P1na: Meh, I think Metal Gear Solid IV was a much better movie.
... I see what you did there.
avatar
snowkatt: but its not world of warcraft
its warcraft its based on the first game from 1994

and its basically a generic fantasy movie with the warcraft name tacked on
Oh, I actually wasn't aware of that. That's kinda cool, that they based it on the classic game. But either way, I'm sure it's still pulling in the WoW crowd, and Blizzard/ the film studio were counting on exactly that. The fan base of the original game is probably too small by now, to be considered a profitable target audience.

It's a great database for info about movies.
If you don't look for such things.. ok :P
I still think the original Mortal Kombat was the only one to get it right.

Unless animated movies count, then Street Fighter II and Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture are kings in my view.

of the video game adaptions mortal kombat was one of the few decent ones it adhered to the spirit and story of the game
and everybody looked like the characters from the game
