HunchBluntley: I think that was his point: Bay's movies are popular (and, therefore, financially successful), but they're widely derided not only by professional critics, but by a lot of the people who willingly watch them. Kinda like Adam Sandler movies.
I'd take that derision and laugh all the way to the bank if I was Bay or Sandler. I think the bank account filled with millions in cash kinda eliminates any feelings of derision. I'd sure like to find out.

Hehe, cool! If it's original, I think you can get some money. There's collectors for all kind of stuff.

I don't like Mortal Kombat, movie or not.

I'm abysmal at playing fighting games. xD

Yeah, it's original... and I bet it still works. But is a edition from a magazine, I don't think is valued that much :)

Think I still have also the first 2 Fatal Fury motion pictures...
As I said in the thread about the movie, yes I liked it just fine, sure I'd watch a sequel.

That being said, "successful" is very relative. If we're going by actual profit, I'm sure there are other movies with smaller budgets that made more money back on their initial investment than this one.

UnrealQuakie: Ah dude mk 1 movie was a blast and I still have the cd soundtrack of it

CharlesGrey: Really was a good film, all things considered. And the soundtrack was pretty cool too, now that you mention it.

I could actually think of several fairly decent video game movies, although they usually tend to stray from the storyline and characters of the games they're based on, for better or worse. And things really go downhill once they start making sequels.

On topic: It's *beep*ing World of Warcraft, quite possibly the most well known and biggest game franchise in existence -- Of course the thing is a commercial success, regardless of its quality.
but its not world of warcraft
its warcraft its based on the first game from 1994

and its basically a generic fantasy movie with the warcraft name tacked on

P1na: Considering the average level of videogame movies, topping them all is not exactly a huge accomplishment.
^This. Plus World of Warcraft had at its peak 15+ million users... My guess is that most of them went to see the movie also.

almabrds: Did you like the movie
no

Yes where Raiden is played by a Frenchman who sounds like he drank too many sandpaper martninis.
Postal is still better

mistermumbles: So... there will be 'Warcraft 2: The Search for More Money' then? ;)
I think the second one is a cross-over from Kung Fu Panda...

well he saw the script and went fuck this
Like I said before in theo ther thread, it's a fun movie. It's not great cinema, but it's not meant to be. It (mostly) looks good, has good music and action and is surprisingly well acted for the most part, and it feels like Warcraft (to me at least). I honestly can't think of how you could make a Warcraft movie much better than this. I very much hope there will be a sequel. More than one even.

I regrett it didn't do better in the box office, especially in the US. Instead of wondering whether there will be a sequel, it would be already officially announced by now, and there would maybe even be a chance for a Starcraft movie.

Doom was a rather decent action movie. The FPS scene near the end was quite good. Not sure why they went with alien mutants instead of demons though.

but remove the name doom and it would still be an action movie nothing in it actually screamed doom

mortal kombat for all its faults was still mortal kombat

that street fighter movie however was ass
