Together with our Warsaw neighbor, 11 bit studios, we decided to team up with one of a kind, AMD – bringing you a chance of winning a unique, custom gaming PC, worth over $6000!

The Thaumaturge, released just yesterday, is an isometric, story-rich RPG with a unique approach to tactical combat, character development features, and investigation mechanics. Set at the mere beginning of 20th century, in Warsaw under the yoke of imperial Russian tsardom, you’ll face morally ambiguous choices; all while discovering a whole darker side of the universe, mysterious powers and strange ethereal beings called Salutors.

Your main task in this contest will be to Design an original Salutor that could roam the world of The Thaumaturge. You can use local folklore and mythology of your own region as inspiration. The media format is yours to choose: image, video, 3D model – get creative!

Once the creative job is done, share your creation on social media, and submit HERE! Make sure to tag your submission using #AMDxThaumaturge.

Now, for the prize… Take a look at this beast’s specs:

The contest ends on March 19th, 2024 at 4 PM UTC, with winners announced within two weeks of the closing date. This contest is only for residents of the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and European Union countries.

Now, haunted by the spirit of Bukavac, this machine will surely grant you the gift of thaumaturgy. Are you ready to tame the power of an ethereal beast? Join us HERE!

ᛞᚨᚱᚹᛟᚾᛞ: Could you, perhaps explain in lay terms for someone who hasn't paid their dues to the state of Poland recently, explain what the heck a Salutor is?
Well it's a... sort of... not a thing anyone here heard of, really.

ᛞᚨᚱᚹᛟᚾᛞ: Also, boo hiss on needing social media platforms,
This. I might have been tempted to give it a go, just for fun (I like to draw even though I'm absolutely no good at it) but that stopped me dead in my tracks.

eric5h5: Read the store page, or play the game, or maybe just google it? I find it hard to believe that someone is THAT helpless.

amok: and if you do not care enough about the game to know what it is, then perhaps, just perhaps, i know it is not good for your ego to consider this, but maybe you are not the kind of person they are targeting with this?

Oh no, the tragedy. It's not like you were going to enter, so why are you being tiresome? Anyone who has interest would know from context anyway. If they had a contest for, I dunno, drawing a sandworm from Dune, they aren't going to bother to "describe" a sandworm either.

Almost, just move your eyes down the page slightly...you can do it, I believe in you!

So that PC looks like it would cost around €2,600 VAT included. Which dollar was used to reach $6,000?

I know it's a thing from within the game mechanics, probably some kind of cool robot that completely misses the point, but you know, not everyone intending to be an entrant is going to bother buying the game and/or looking at a video long enough to find out what they are.

After all, that PC is worth at least 5000$ of markup!
Salutor sub caelo stellato, Thaumaturge.

A markup for a massive tax writeoff on something they couldn't move even if they sold it at cost, so they're giving away a checks link...PC they're so confident in the aesthetics of that they couldn't even show a picture of it!

You do realize how old the Dune books and media franchise are, right? The first two Dune games themselves were out while I was learning to hold a book, matey!

There's a good chance that the kids of today haven't even heard the name dune or know what a sandworm would be! Is it a small harmless worm that burrows though the sand and is exchanged for petty cash by hunters?

Assumptions only make donkeys of the whole situation. Not everyone is media literate/terminally online, and for a fair lot of us, we grew tired of mass media sometime around 2010.

One could make the argument that one would associate a specific Sandworm:tm: with the Dune Franchise, but that also presumes a lot.

You do realize that was just an example, right? RIGHT? Of course not, more tiresome blather as usual. Go yell at some more clouds.
Is some shitty AI generation service permitted for this?

Unfortunately I can't draw shit :-D

LoneWolf_91: I wish there was a way to downvote the original post or something as it's promoting contest that obviously discriminates people based on their location.

Lame move!

XYCat: I'm pretty sure these restrictions are tied to trade and shipping agreements the hardware company that provides the prize has to follow, or wants to follow to avoid additional costs or other hassle, so no, nobody's "discriminating" you, you're not a victim here.
Well to be honest I might have used the word discrimination a bit harshly so I guess a better word to describe the situation was exclude.
Also, I never said they are discriminating against me per say.

However, seeing there are 195 countries in the world the fact that only people from 31 country can participate (while the rest can go F themselves) is a BS move.

Additional costs/taxes are a valid point to some degree but i find it hard to believe 2 multi million dollar companies (such as AMD and GOG) can't make the ends meet and pay for those taxes.
Especially if you consider the fact they have no issues paying taxes when they are selling (and shipping) their products to all of the countries this contest excludes.

Just my 2 cents though, not that it will change anything :)

GOG.com: This contest is only for residents of the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and European Union countries.[/url]!
This kills it. Lame move. And to refer to someone else's post here the worse that could apply is probably import duties which in my case would be no more than about $2000 for the whole thing. If they can't cover that they shouldn't be holding the contest. What if someone uses a mail forwarding service as is so popular over here?

There might be complications regarding how/if this is seen as a lottery and how gambling/other laws may apply.

thats not what they are saying, they are saying "this is a large physical price, and we can only ship it to 31 countries, sorry".
Great stuff, good luck! For anyone looking for benchmarks, we've published our tech test of The Thaumaturge one hour ago -> check PCGH.de (links are not allowed in this posting). =)
