I am lost when it comes to all these new game launchers and such. I refused to install STEAM on principle way back when it came out, and still won't. So I do my buying at GOG.

I do pay for prime and got BG:EE free back in April. It is in my collection there, but says I need to
1 download the app,
2 install the app,
3 sign in,
4 claim and play games.

Back in April when I grabbed it I had hoped I would be able to then download BG:EE off gog. Is that possible? I have yet to try to use it at all.

If not, would it have been possible if it had been "an external redeem"?

edit seems like I missed out on a lot more, BG2 EE and NWN EE were on there free as well at some point? How do you find out about these, I saw the BG1 come up on slickdeals

You do not need the steam client at all in order to download and play most steam games. I have never installed it either.

It specifically needs to be a GOG key to be redeemable on GOG. Nothing else will do.

Practically all Prime giveaways last at least a month. If you check Prime at least once a month, you should be ok.
