it seems that the Windows 95 patch runs it alright with Wine.
Usually dosbox has advantages over wine in games that can work both in dos and windows, such as scaling, easy keys remapping, etc.
I got it to launch with DosBox but it runs horribly and complains about low memory.
Doxbox has quite a few options. There is another file called 'dosbox_<game_name>.conf' in the game directory, which is main config file.
dosbox -conf <path_to_file>/dosbox_<game_name>.conf -conf <path_to_file>/dosbox_<game_name>_single.conf
And, of course, you can try to adjust options in config file (sdl, render and cpu sections affect graphics performance the most). But some distros has slow, buggy dosbox version in their repositories. If you're using one of them, you have to install dosbox from another source or keep using wine :)
