Corporate greed knows no bounds, if your not growing, making more money then you have failed. Everything is built to last just long enough to get the next version out, keep the money flowing. But that bubble is starting to get too big and will pop eventually. Moving manufacturing to even more poor countries to exploit for profit is getting harder, finance spreading thinner and thinner - even though governments are printing cash faster than ever - and more and more focus on vapor-money - which includes stock markets and digital money - none of which really has any worth.

This is the world where the Gollum complex rears its head, fear of losing a single penny, means more and more protective DRM needs to be implemented. Your sharing that book with a friend is money lost to these people, you reading your own book, whilst not having advertising all over the page is lost money - so everything needs to move to the cloud where costs are lower, advertising can be forced in at every possibly place, and they have full and unconditional control.
Just go have a look how the fed came about there's a good documentary on it.
I just love how every game seems to aim to rescind the consumer right of resale; green man gaming had a good system that respected your right to it, but essentially was a sham because you could only use that consumer right inside their own distribution platform on their exchange terms that naturally gave them a sweet cut of what was business that wasn't theirs.
If I sell a game to a mate in the old days it simply required me to hand over the disc; how is that different to asking my distributing platform (such as GOG.com) to move my license to a different account; but oh no we can't do that. *rolls eyes

While I was reading that topic, I remember this topic. (weird sentence). Has France started to think like me?

I'm not defending DRM here, but...
Why would kids want to share games nowadays? There's an enormous amount of games available for very cheap.
Back in the day when I was a kid / teenager / student (ending around the end of the 90s), games were always expensive / full price. Stores didn't have a stock of older games at a discounted price. Sharing games made a lot more sense than now.
(just an example) I'm currently playing Mass Effect. If that game was released in the 90s, it would've cost at least 50 euros... and then disappear from the stores. Now you can buy all three for 6 euros https://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/buy-mass-effect-trilogy-cd-key-compare-prices/

I installed GOG and Origin because I buy lots of games and the more platforms I have, the better. But, since there is no sharing with friends options, I can´t spend any more money on you. If I can´t share my games with my daughters... why should I spend my money on GOG/Origin better than Steam?. As a result, I´ve purchased more than 70 games within one year in Steam, but only a few in GOG and just one in Origin. Up to you, but, so far, no contest. Considering the options, not allowing sharing is, very likely, making you loose millions in purchases. No doubt.
