Tannath: DiCaprio, on the other hand, grew on me. I wasn't a fan of him in the beginning either, but he's turned into a fine actor.
Same opinion here. Gangs of New York, Blood Diamond, Body of Lies, Inception, Shutter Island, Wolf Of Wall Street, Django Unchained and now The Revenant are among my favorite movies and I like him very much now.
Well who cares about Oscars, seriously DiCaprio is still as good as before, no better for having an Oscar, he always been fucking great, come on, he even make me like some terrible movies like TITANIC or INCEPTION.

But talking about oscars about Mainstream Gossip Crap, that is what is it as the most interesting thing there is not the movies but see how fancy is the people in the venue, yeah... I am also happy that STARWARS 7 didnt get any crap, they do not deserve it, not even in the same crappy supermainstream recognition channels that fit them, as the oscars.
During the 78th Academy Awards the mixed look of disappointment and relief Joaquin Phoenix had on his face when Philip Seymour Hoffman was announced as Best Actor for Capote over himself in Walk the Line that year was a real eye-opening moment in terms of just how bullshit these awards seem to be (beyond signifying that people receiving them are going to be able to demand higher pay while they ride the buzz).

Another of those moments had previously come in the category of Best Original Song when James Horner and Will Jennings' audible laxative in the form of "My Heart Will Go On" won out over Elliott Smith's "Miss Misery".

Anyway, DiCaprio finally getting an Oscar at least puts him out of Peter O'Toole territory, where it might've been years out until the Academy finally caved and tossed an honorary award his way.
Now that I think about it, why would anyone be worried about Star Wars winning anything of prominence at the Oscars? The Academy Awards have had a known bias against SF/F movies for decades.
