Well I see people bringing up being "Marzookered" and it's a tad different. He was always making inane bullshit threads like, "If you could be a button on an X-Box controller, what button would you be?"

I refuse to put this thread in the same category as that crap. :P

These threads with links to generic topN lists on random sites are kinda pointless and annoying.

When using the internet, your brain is constantly occupied. Switching from this mode to static text reading can be a bit hard, since your brain will quickly feel understimulated. So it is hard to get people to read text on the web. Most text are more skimmed than read.
The top list format is kind of irritating, but for some reason, people find it inviting. So it makes sense to try to stuff any article into this format.
Likewise, on Cracked.com the articles are constanly interrupted with stock photos and crap jokes. Its not doing the content any favors, but it satisfies the websurfers crawings for constant interruption.
