Memecchi: If the game can ultimately be played offline, and that has always been the case (like it wasn't patched in or anything years later), there's no reason not to have it here, the souls series also has a big online component and a lot of players simply don't want to engage with it

And that's the case for Death stranding too, I've read people saying that they don't like seeing bridges and other structures already scattered all over the world for them

alexandros050: Thing is when GOG released Hitman and many things were locked behind online everybody complained about it and then GOG had to remove the game from the store. Can't see how this game is any different.
As BanditKeith2 said, Hitman outright blocked *core* gameplay mechanics and progression behind a connection, while the missing stuff in Death stranding could be annoying to some, it's not the same at all
