A lot of us are staying at home these days, and that means more time to catch up on some of the interesting games we didn’t have time to play before. Here are 3 reasons why you should keep your games wishlist up-to-date, along with some tips on how to make full use of it.

With new games releasing on every platform all the time, it's very easy to miss out on the next great hit or forget about past titles that may have caught your attention but were too pricey at the time. Keeping an up-to-date wishlist can help you keep up with these titles, as well as let you know when they are at their best price.

All the games you'd like to play in one place
Do you like a game but aren’t quite ready to commit to the purchase? When a game from your wishlist goes on sale, we will let you know about it with a special website notification and email message. This can be handy at all times, but especially during the big seasonal sales, like Summer and Winter Sale, when there's a lot of titles on discount and you want to stick to the games that interest you the most.

If you want to wishlist games on GOG.COM, you can do that by clicking the heart icon below the “add to cart” button. This way, you can keep interesting titles in one place. You can also set your wishlist to be visible to more people than just you. Maybe you want to share it with a friend, or even with the public? You can do that. You're also able to send or post a direct link to your wishlist to let people know what would be the best gift to get you.

We'd recommend that you check and update your wishlist at least every month with a casual browse through the GOG.COM Store, the bestsellers list, the latest releases, and even upcoming games. If that's too often for you, then the beginning of May and December would be the best times to prepare for the biggest sales of the year.

Save even more with our exclusive newsletter discounts
The wishlist is not only for tracking the ongoing sale events. It's also a perfect way to get even better, exclusive discounts! Every month we send special offers to our newsletter subscribers. These can be based on a game that you already own or for a title that is already on your wishlist.

In recent weeks, we shared exclusive discounts for games like Darkest Dungeon, Diablo + Hellfire, Tropico 6, Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Royal Edition, and many more. We make sure that these are the highest discounts available, deals you won't get on any other platform. It's really worth it to stay subscribed, keep an up-to-date wishlist, and check out our newsletters.

Keeping an eye on what's to come
Are you looking forward to playing Desperados III or Gamedec? Your wishlist can help you keep track of upcoming game releases, as well as good deals on them!

You can wishlist pre-orders and get notified about deals for them in the same way as other games. For titles that are not yet available, we also have a Notify Me button. It's a one-time reminder that alerts you once the game is released and it works best when used together with adding it to your wishlist, especially if you prefer to get that game later at a discount.

We hope this short reminder will encourage you to check and update your wishlists, especially as we're working on some great offers to share with you soon…

How often do you use wishlists on GOG.COM and what are the last few games you added to your list? Let us know in the comments below![/i]

GOG, it would be much easier to spend money on these offers when you would mention the discounts in the newsletter and not hide them behind trackers and captchas so that we have to waste a lot of time to actually find out what you offer. ;)

You know, GOG, what's in our wishlist?
1. To receive these exclusive offers with special discounts not by e-mail (anyway, it works just as bad as the main page - LETTERS DO NOT COME), but right here, in the chat (You have a built-in chat on your site, do you remember that?).
2. The ability to add a GAME to the wishlist, rather than EDITION of a game. Especially considering the fact that you have not solved the problem of different editions for all these years (Especially when there is only one edition for adding to the wishlist at the pre-order stage, and when a game is released, there are several editions. And you won’t even see it on the wishlist.
3. Damn hell sort by price and by discount (both in wishlist and catalog), so we don’t have to use other sites for this. It is not comfortable!
4. For the sake of gods, add a checkbox "Hide owned" in the catalog (as you finally added "hide DLC" 10 years later).

AND
A simple page (which will open even in browsers 10 years ago) with a simple list of the form:
[Date-time]: Game X [link-to-game] added to the catalog.
[Date-time]: The sale "SaleName" [link-to-salepage] began. Will end in [counter].
[Date-time]: Game Y [link-to-game] added to the catalog. Available Editions: [link-to-game-edition1], [link-to-game-edition2]

Just realized, you can view only discounted items in your wishlist. It' in the right menu (price)

This is not a sort.
Are there good people that visited(played or tried to play) >~ 90% of the games they own?

Seems I'll be in the opposite range of not being able to play >~ 90% of the game I own due to time constraints. Lifetime projection, mind you. How bad is that?

Then what's the point of wishlisting and buying games I'm never to play? Dev & favorite genre support :thumbs up: :-)

I agree, this is quite annoying, as is ever needing to solve captchas when logged in on an account that has made a number of purchases.

The other thing I find annoying is how the wishlist will send you a notification for a game you added to your wishlist while on sale. If I wanted to buy it this sale I would have done so already.

I agree with most of the suggestions made so far. I still find it quite useful as is, and I appreciate that the functionality is available since there are such a large number of games too keep track of.

One other thing that would be super handy is an anti-wishlist, for games that I have looked at in some detail and decided I don't want. I should just keep a text file for this for now, but it would be convenient to have it here. This could just be the ability to add a arbitrary note to a game in the store (to also be able to note particular issues in case they are fixed later).

Another idea would be to make it possible to assign a target price to a wishlist item. This could provide useful data to GOG.

karnak1: As a customer I can understand that this COVID business can be terrible in terms of disturbance in logistics and management. But I'll find it unacceptable if - when this "pandemic" finally ends" - things remain as they are and we have no means of knowing when games are updated.
Ah, is this why for the last couple of months I see no updates when I go to "My Collection"? Have they disabled updates to limit bandwidth usage? Silly me, I was thinking there was something wrong with my profile or my browser/session/cookies etc...

No, the updates are still there. They just don't tell you.

MarkoH01: There is an extremely important reason to keep games on wishlist you missed out.

With all the still missing possibilities to sort and filter the games here on GOG (yes, still no sort by discount option and still no sort by price option i.e. ... yes, I am grateful that after years of begging you finally managed to add the "hide DLC" function though) it's basically the only way (except for using other websites) to keep track of discounts whenever there is a major sale on GOG.
If you don't mind to use browser extensions there's an even better way, ghorint2t's great GreaseMonkey script, which shows what options GOG should have provided for their game catalog. Having used it for a while I cannot imagine how I could handle big sales without this script before.

Beside the "Hide DLCs" there's still one essential filter missing, display the DLCs and upgrade options for games I already own. That's what I abuse my wishlist for at the moment. But I'm quite sure I've missed to add some DLCs or upgrade options and my list is incomplete.

You'll have to put up with shenanigans for your DRM-free games

argamasa: I only want that the GOG wishlist be more visible on Galaxy 2.0, a thing that made me return to 1.2 was i hard difficult to see the wishlist.
Seconded, we would love to have our wishlists featured in Galaxy!

It still boggles my mind they outright killed a feature this iconic and useful. It's like they want to make the store more generic AND less user-friendly.

I agree, this really hurts sales. I actively don't wishlist games because of this, waiting for them to leave the sale before wishlisting them. (and subsequently forgetting completely about them) Sometimes I put them in my shopping cart for exactly this purpose.

Just don't notify unless the price goes below the current price!

Another idea would be to make it possible to assign a target price to a wishlist item. This could provide useful data to GOG.
That would be even better. Third party sites like ITAD can do this, but if GOG offers this it would increase the chance of the customer buying on GOG as well as provide extremely valuable information.

This would be really nice too and increase the focus on games that I actually do want.

I feel that cose_vecchie and kdgog struck particularly good points.

Really, I've never had much going on with my wishlist, but if I could sort them by intent, that'd be great.

And being able to track my wishes on the community wishlist would make that feature so much stronger.
