At GOG, we’re not slowing down for one minute – and bringing in two exciting releases to join your library. Let’s see what they’re all about!

KeeperRL
This game is a dungeon simulator with roguelike and RPG elements. Take the role of an evil wizard and study the methods of black magic. Equip your minions and explore the world, murder innocent villagers and burn their homes; build your dungeon, lay traps and prepare for an assault of angry heroes.

You can now get it for a -25% launch discount, until March 14th, 6 PM UTC, as well as arm yourself with either its Soundtrack, or both of these titles in a Pack!

Secrets of Grindea
Leaving the Early Access and releasing in its full glory, it’s an old-school Action RPG with co-op support for up to 4 players. It is a tribute to and sometimes a parody of the old SNES games so many of us grew up with and loved. Journey through fantastical lands, and battle tons of different enemies and bosses in your quest for truth, friendship and, above all, finding the world's rarest treasures.

You can also get the Soundtrack – both of these titles launch with a -10% discount, until March 7th, 6 PM UTC!

Now on GOG!
Grindea read like it would have couch co-op, but it's only Galaxy and IP. It's great for a game to have direct IP! It's just my misinterpretation of the game card/info that it'd be couch-co-op. Not trying it this morning, but will down the road. It's not what the hubby and I wanted this morning.

Magnitus: Not sure how important multiplayer is in the game, but as a matter of overall principle, I will not pay more than 50% of the listed price for any game that includes multiplayer as a feature, but with no offline support.

Of course, if the game is predominantly multiplayer, than I won't get it at all unless said multiplayer is offline.

Conversely, I'm usually willing to buy quality games that offer an offline multiplayer at a higher price than I otherwise would, as such games are less common and being able to play a game with your family at home adds a lot of value.
If you run Grindea through Galaxy then it connects to multiplayer via Galaxy. If you run Grindea without using Galaxy then it connects to multiplayer via IP address. It's rare to see IP address support nowadays so I'm quite pleased to see that.

Even better: The in-game menus let you choose between Galaxy and IP, even if Galaxy is on the computer. Refreshing. (Again, just not the game I wanted today -- I wanted couch co-op to enjoy with my hubby on a day off together.)

BreOl72: So, "KeeperRL" is basically "Dungeon Keeper - The Roguelike"?
I kinda like the looks, but I'm not so sure about the roguelike part...
It is Dungeon Keeper meets Dwarf Fortress with roguelike elements. If you wish to learn more about the roguelike part, I would recommend reading this excellent article.

That's great news. Thanks for the clarification :). In that case, I'll definitely grab the game.

Not sure why they don't advertise that local multiplayer is supported on the game card unless they only consider same screen to be local and LAN has not classification in GOG's game card lingo.
IP multiplayer tested: It works (between two Win10 machines). It didn't ask the Windows firewall for permission, so I had to grant it manually. And it took a couple times toggling menu from GOG to IP, saving, exiting game, and back in before it actually loaded the IP layer. But it worked for a couple hours of play once it went. Worked well, even though the game declares that feature beta.

The feature has actually been in beta for 5+ years and always worked well for me. Sometimes felt like they forgot about the „beta“ label there :D
According to GOG, both KeeperRL and Secrets of Grindea need Windows 10 as Minimum System Requirements.

However, the Humble Store states those games also work on XP, 7 and 8.

Is this an error? Which is correct?

For Mac, on GOG it doesn't list any OS requirements, except the sidebar says 10.12, but on Steam and Humble it says 10.7, which is quite old, so I expect it would also support old versions of Windows. Also the source code is available, plus you can get it free here if you want an ASCII version with no sound.
Secrets of Grindea: no demo and Valkyrie Hat DLC on Gog .

Made some research and found that KeeperRL also works on Windows 7 and 8.

According to its dev Michal Brzozowski:
"I think Steam no longer supports older Windows versions, that's why I put 10 as the minimum requirement. If KeeperRL ran fine on your Win 8 machine then it should continue to do so. "

On steam forums, a couple of users acknowledge having run KeeperRL on win7 and win8, despite having some issues with the initial loading time being too long.

GOG should list this information on the Minimum System Requirements, as people who love retro games tend to have computers with older versions of software.

Secrets of Grindea is listed both in Humble and Steam to work on winXP, win7 and win8. The GOG version will probably also work on these systems.

I was wondering about that! Thx for pointing it out. :)
