Hi y'all. :) So, I'm in the NCR, and the sheriff told me to go ask Tandi about a job...when I get to the council building I can see her in there, but the door into the building is locked, and talking to the guards just brings up random "hovering" lines. I've lock-picked the door, and gotten the "you have successfully...." message, yet it remains locked.

Am I missing something here?

Unfortunately I can't really remember anything significant to assist you, hopefully someone else might, but just to confirm, have you tried first talking to both the Sheriff (Dumont) and also the Deputy (Karl)? I vaguely recall both of them having dialogue pertaining to asking Tandi for work but I may be mistaken. In theory you may have just spoken to the wrong person, and thus not triggered the gentleman who lets you in to appear.

Yep, I talked to both...

I'm not sure what he's called, but you have to talk to Tandi's secretary - a guy in a suit (thus not the usual guard uniform) loitering in the hall before Tandi's office. Or is that the Deputy?

If the secretary isn't there, try leaving the town and passing some time then returning.
Tried that again just now. Still nothing. :(
Can you show us a screenshot? That'd help immensely.
10. Retrive Parts/Gain Access to Vault 15.

Sheriff Dumont, Deputy Karl, Dusty, Doc Jubilee and the slave overseer have all mentioned that President Tandi is looking for a "specialist". Go to the Congress House and tell first Feargus and then Gunther that you're there for the job. Talk to Tandi and take this quest to "retrive" the computer parts, but don't ask for a reward!

More about that quest on that page. It's been a while, but I can't remember having issues with that quest.

Oops...didn't see this until just now. School has been kicking my butt this week. I'll load up a screenshot in the morning. :)

Okay! Here we are. First, I'm talking to the sheriff, thirty seconds later I'm in the council hall with no one to talk to.

This is odd. Feargus should be there to talk to. I assume lockpicking the door in sneak mode (default: "1") doesn't work?

Hmm...I have tried to lockpick it, but not while in sneak. I'll do that when I get home from school and will report back.

Alright, I tried it, still doesn't work. First it says "you deftly pick the lock" and then when trying to open it, "the door appears to be locked." Screenshot attached.

Do you have some kind of mods installed (restoration project for example)? to me it seems like something has overwritten/deleted feargus from where he should be, or atleast he seems to be invisible for some reason.

anyway to the problem itself, try downloading savegame editor and editing the variable for the mission, while this might not bring feargus back it might get you through the door so you can continue with the quest/game.

open the save what you want to edit and in GVARS tab find 168:GVAR_NCR_TANDI_WORK=0 (or atleast it should be 0) and change it to 1, you also notice that number 169 is the variable for tandi accepting the job which is the reason i think this should open the door for you. (the number might be off in case you have mods or other tweaks installed, i just installed the game to see if there was a variable for the quest so my game is vanilla and some differences might occur.)

needless to say take a backup of your saves before editing anything so it won't atleast make things even harder should something else get corrupted when editing the save, hope this helps.

Do I recall that you have to interact with Feargus again at the end of the mission? If I'm recalling that correctly, you might need to do this twice.
