Frankly speaking, playing the game with keyboard and mouse is a bit off putting experience. And those reaction tasks are so damned irritating.

SimonG: Any hope for something similar for win 7 users?

Psychotropic: I haven't tried it on 7 yet, but I did a little Googling and it looks like running it in compatibility mode should work fine.
I did some googling, and it seems there is a version (0.2.7, I think) that is made for Vista/7...in any case, how did you go about setting this up for Fahrenheit? Is there a guide out there we can follow?

As long as you set the trigger inputs to act as buttons, it should work just fine.
In the end, I just downloaded x360wc, installed it manually (its .INF does not allow for right-click installation) and on the "thumbstick" tab set the right one to "Z Axis / Slider 1". I will set it back to "Z Rotation / Z Axis" and see how it handles modern games.
I know this is an older thread, but I made a gamepad profile for Pinnacle Game Profiler (Xpadder seems to have problems).

The game works very well with it.

with a keyboard and mouse the game is absolutly misserable..

Not only do the quick time game play events pop out of no where.. (you are sitting back relaxing and playing and suddenly you have to jump up, and get to the keys and hope you can follow quick enough) But they are way way way to long...

I can't stress enough how awefull this game is with a keyboard and mouse,, though honestly with a game pad it wouldn't be much better..

Quick reactions and playing simon says is the last thing i want in an adventure game.. Worst money i have spent on a game in a long long long long time.. Infact.. i would put this one up there with my worst gaming choices.... Perhaps with out the events the game might be interesting, but honestly even the story is subpar..
You can make it work - if you have a numpad reassign the controls so that what woukd normally be the "left sided" buttons during the QTE scenes to WASD and then assign the "right-sided" ones to numpad buttons (7 for Up, 5 for Down and 4, 6 for Left and Right). I believe the setup is comfortable enough - I cleared the whole game with it and it was perfectly fine.
I know this game won't support an X360 controller, but does it support D-Input gamepads?

I've just bought a Logitech F510 controller that can switch between D-Input and X-Input. I was a little disappointed with the X360 controller when I discovered it couldn't play older games properly.
Yeah, everything works fine with with direct-input controllers. Xbox controllers can't map the right analogue stick.

Thanks for the information! Buying now.
The game recognizes both analogue sticks for my Logitech Dual Action gamepad, but the buttons don't work at all and I can't reassign them. When I switch to kb/m, it doesn't recognize mouse buttons 4 and 5 (MX 518). Is there a fix?
I have a logitech f510. I can not get the right stick to work. I have the pad set to Direct input. Am I doing something wrong?

Have you tried something like XPadder to remap the unassignable ones?
I have the Logitech F310
If you switch your controller to D (on the back) it works in the old Joypad mode and you can reasign the keys in Fahrenheit (doesn't work in the "Xbox" mode).

Also remap button 1 to 2 (they are reverse now)

Also (not needed for this game, but other old games) I use JoytoKey - there you can map Keys and even mouse movements to your game controller.
If you don't have controller, it will be pain for dual stick actions.
x360ce controller emulator can help about problems. (I played this game with keyboard)
