Agree, and they wear outlaw outfit.

bushwhacker2k: If I follow you- yeah, you get stronger very slowly (even compared to many other PB games) in this. I don't think you can do anything about being a total weakling for the first batch of levels.
I found the scaling of power to be utterly ridiculous, if not completely bugged. From level 1 to 17, I did barely any damage to anything, had trouble even with the "2nd tier" enemies (hyenas, raptors, screamers etc.). And by barely, I mean I couldn't notice the bar decreasing at all. And I have joined the clerics at that point.
Then I upgraded the Laser Rifle ONCE, going from 37 to 55 damage and suddenly I can take on Skexes, Swamp Spiders, Stone somethings ect. with two, three, maybe four three-blast salvos. Chewing their health off.

I added only half again the damage to the weapon, yet it went from not damaging them AT ALL, not a single bit, to chewing through them. As if there was some kind of damage "threshold" we're not informed about.

Oh no, someone has expectations for their games instead of groveling in front of the games industry and being grateful for what we're graciously given. Grab the pitchforks.

The fact that some of these are Piranha Bytes "calling cards" are NOT a good thing. They had 7 games now to figure this shit out, with other examples in the industry, and they still made scfi-fi Gothic 1 HD. Actually worse for the player in some ways than previous games.

In the Piranha/Bethesda rivalry I'm strongly on the Gothic side, and yet this game managed to piss me off in some major ways (oh, you managed to knock over your opponent with your combo and they vulnerable to your next attack? GREEN TRIANGLE EXCLAMATION MARK LOL)

I can't believe I forgot this one!

29. It's WAY too easy to suppress a single humanoid enemy in melee if you're using a shield. Let them wear their stamina out then use a heavy attack to knock them down. While they're down and while you're hitting them they cannot recharge stamina, so keep hitting them and knocking them down and they can't ever retaliate. Your stamina starts regenerating almost as soon as you knock them down. (I do have stamina 1 and a ring that boosts stamina though, so I don't know if that is the deciding factor that makes it viable)

-Important to note that non-humanoids don't seem to actually have a stamina bar and thus can't be suppressed this way.

Yes, that's how PB tends to design their games- that threshold mechanic is a huge part of things.

It's good that you mentioned upgrading your weapon, I have an important announcement for all Elex players:

ATTRIBUTES DON'T DO ANYTHING EXCEPT AS REQUIREMENTS!

Strength doesn't boost melee damage, dex doesn't boost ranged damage, con doesn't increase health, int doesn't increase mana- NOTHING. They exist only as requirements for equipment and skills.

For a weapon user (i.e. not a pure mage) the damage of your weapon is the vast majority of your damage.

I still haven't figured out what the Attack Strength skill does. Melee Attack is really straightforward though, since it appears on every melee weapon once you get it.

I quite agree. I LOVE Piranha Bytes but there's no shortage of things to criticize.

The only PB game I haven't played is Risen 2, and I genuinely never noticed this before.
So if what you're saying is true, this game is monumentally cocked up in this regard, considering that you don't get to pass that threshhold for no less than 10 levels of adding boosting only and solely the specific attributes for that weapon, to the detriment of anything else.
That's before choosing a faction, so in my case it took 17, because I was spreading my points a bit more evenly at first.

17 levels before I started being able to start traveling without having to run away from everything but the weakest enemies, then I'm suddenly Lord Death to all but the toughest monsters.

The fact that there is no soft progression in the game, only a few comparable weapons with very steep upgrade requirements, is in stark contrast with previous games where you gradually became more powerful. It's also grating.
I don't know how much they plan to patch this, but I SERIOUSLY feel like the enemy power-to-exp ratio is all over the place.

I just got done fighting a Chimera, a Troll, a Night Shade and more- and yet it still takes me 3 full hits to take down a measly scavenger, which only gives 25xp.

Actually, I went up against two scavengers and I got knocked down and almost died in like 2 seconds- those things are absurdly vicious.

Tutorial-type enemies (Runts, Clumsy, Weak, Young, etc.) should not give the same amount of exp as regular enemies. I feel that regular enemies should give more exp and tutorial enemies' exp should stay the same.

about the atributes.... its weird when it says otherwise but doesnt give you more dmg or anything other then you can upgrade on weps or other skills needing those...

there is somewhere a bow i dont know anymore where i found it but there is a bow you get with 3 stars i think i looted it somewhere... sorry dont know anymore about how i got it on what place... but that bow just totally owns almost every wep in the game... after a while you are so boosted playing with a bow it will kill most things 1 shotted and even those huge enemy's fucking easy when a weapon or rocket launcher or even a weird fire launcher -> flametrower. needs like 30 shots when that bow does it in like 10 maybe even less :P

that bow could be a 1 star but then its like a legendary bow with 1 big star on it.... :)..

I would love for them to unlock the quickslot keys so they can be rebound.

I think you can change those by editing the config file itself, but I haven't tested it.

(Also, I agree.)
Would be cool to set multiple quest markers on the map simultaneously.

Haha, that would also be nice!
1 - IMO, before anything else, they need to unlock the keybindings ASAP. Not just the quickslots, but all of them. I've been using the ESDF control scheme for 20 years, can't get used to WASD for the life of me, and I know a lot of people are in similar situations.

The files containing the key bindings are .XAM files. Not that easy to edit, I'll tell you that much. :(
There is an issue where companions will not attack hostile NPCs after a NPC initiated combat from dialogue mode.
(for example: Duras vs Kral)

When playing with a controller and doing lockpicking, a glitch is displayed over the interface that makes lockpicking impossible. This can be circumvented by clicking on the lock with the mouse and then using the controller.
I would like 8 more hotkey slots so I can hotkey sunglasses, food and potions. Most of my hotkey slots are for weapons.

Definitely. I found myself running out of hotkeys once I actually got some variety of abilities and equipment, and now I only use about half of the things I actually want to.
