I have even more problems with that game.


When I start the game I get almost no reaction from the game. The music starts after some time, but the screen stays black. Only when I tab out of the game it will advance. If I tab in directly after tabbing out I get parts of the intro and later (after the next tabbing) I get to the menu.

There my mouse or the background picture wont move unless I tab out and in of the game.

I tried the 50% (and 30% and 15%) energy trick already, but that brought no change

Steam is not running

1. Find (via Google) and install DXWnd (OG edition) tool
2. Extract and run it, go to Edit -> Add.
3. Press "..." button, find Eador.exe file
4. Check up "Hook DirectDraw" option
5. In Resolution tab choose your screen resolution (or set game default 1024x768). I used 1366x768
6. Check up "Auto-Correct Mouse Position" and "Don't Hide Mouse Pointer"
7. Press ОК, go to Edit tab again and press Execute


You might also want to set you Eador.cfg to these settings:

Sound (0 - off/1 - on): 1
Windowed (0 - off/1 - on): 1
Run background (0 - off/1 - on): 1
Refresh delay (default 40): 40

I checked the Genesis forum already and could not find the DXWnd (OG Edition). Fortunately GOG could help me with this:

I tried DXWnd and it did not do anything for me (possibly I failed to use it correctly).
Then I tried to throttle the CPU and it worked like a charm. Smooth game now! And good one too.

For those who need DxWnd and its configuration you can check this forum.

This is the ONLY solution that actually works and it works like a charm, just do it.

Yep, I tried DxWnd and even virtual XP mode (the game would not start). CPU throttling for the win.
