I had a hankering for some Dungeon Keeper 2 and decided to pick up the GoG version rather than try and install from discs. I had a pretty awful time with massive stuttering and crashes with the default build.

However I have to say that installing DGVoodoo2 helped a lot, I also had the issue with the mouse pointer going crazy sometimes, zipping off the edge of the screen and getting stuck.

I haven't played long enough to 100% confirm this but this tool seemed to help:-

https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm

I used the following options for DK2

"Override mouse speed" and reduced it by one or two
"Enhance pointer precision" - Off
"Clip (lock) mouse cursor to active window"

Also bound home and end to the mouse wheel to allow me to zoom on the mouse wheel.

I also did the mouse lag registry fix as detailed here - https://www.gog.com/forum/dungeon_keeper_series/mouse_lag_solution (NoDTToDITMouseBatch)

Give it a try. My game still freezes up on exit though (and leaves itself on top of all the other windows so I can't get to task manager to kill it.. grr).

My specs - Windows 11 Pro, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 32.0 GB RAM GTX 4090.
Just to follow up, the game ran much better but still has serious issues (bouts of severe slowdown/stuttering, audio stuttering, crashing).

ya i cant fix the stuttering aswell and many audio glitches.
Oh i thought i was the only one that had issue, until i stepped into the forum. For a game thats in the preservation program, it really isnt getting the help it deserves. Im getting mouse lag, cutscene stuttering and FPS drops to the point its not enjoyable..

Hope someone from GOG sees this and does something :/

The fan made 'Flame' patch is the way forward for DK2.

Many, many thanks.

I've just tried it out and it's working perfectly so far (I downloaded the Flame patch from github)

With the previous "Gog" version of DK2, the videos stuttered and the mouse sometimes worked, sometimes not.

A huge difference, at least at the beginning. Everything runs absolutely smoothly
