I saw GOG's news about the Doom 3 update now including multiplayer. Does this new multiplayer support LAN?

GOG's Doom 3 update news post:
Now, when it comes to DOOM 3 Update, as we’ve mentioned, the original version of DOOM 3 has been added to our DOOM 3: BFG Edition. That means this title will now be visible in our store as just DOOM 3 and it contains both BFG Edition and Original Version. In addition, Original Version is also available to play in multiplayer mode. Make sure to gather some friends and go on a good old quality DOOM rampage!

According with PCGamingWiki, yes.

it's the same version as the last retail, so anything the last disc patch support, this should too.

but seriously, people don't have id games backed forever? I still am shuffling around my last installs of Q1/2/3 from 1999/2000. :) I haven't installed D3 since 04 because I'd just copy the folder to a new HD. :D
Thank you for the information.
