The original version is superior, in that the Post-processing wasn't broken.
No, not the color filter, everything from DoF and Bloom had been made pixelated.
If you disliked the color filter, you could have disabled post processing in the original version, and it looked better than identical to the Director's Cut.

no the game doesn't send info back. They abandoned the DC release 1 month after release, so you can 100% guarantee they aren't still gathering data on it, or metrics or anything else. They dropped it and forgot about it only 1 month after they released it. Released the game, did a patch 1 month after, and then.. abandoned so you don't have to worry about them spying on information.
