Hi,

Since I know some games on GOG have their original version included as a bonus alongside the latest release, I'd like to know if there's any chance for the non-DC edition to get here at some point as well. By that, I mean that I'd like to know if it happened for other games before, or if GOG staff can somehow give a reply...

Thanks in advance!
I already own the Director's cut outside GoG but I want to play the original version as well, so much so that I'd buy it here.

I thought the same, the original got a stronger golden tinted effect, Bioshock added the original version post release, I hope they do the same here!! Please GOG!!!!

Thanks! Guess I'll contact the GOG support as well to know if it's something they can make happen...
It's not just the gold filter. The Director's Cut version borked a bunch of textures and lighting effects as well.

Just download the GFX mod and restore a good amount of that stuff.

Thanks! Just tested and works quite nice :)
Still, a possibility to play the original version would be good nevertheless. I think video quality was also tuned down in director's cut.

The Director's Cut is actually built off of an older version of the code, pre-release and pre-patch, so there are bugs and glitches in the DC that do not appear in the non-DC version post-patch which includes general stability fixes and of course the aforementioned lighting and filter changes. It would be nice to access the original, though I don't know if going back to the way the boss fights were before would be worth it for a whole new playthrough...

In a perfect world, the DC would be patched to be as stable and bug-free as the post-patch original release. But that'll probably never happen, sadly, unless a remaster for PS4/5 ever releases and the PC gets the sloppy seconds.
So I am guessing, this is why it's such a stuttery mess. I've already tried all the registry fixes, vsync and nvidia panel tweaks, none fixed the stutters. I don't remember having these issues with the original version, so I guess it's just bugged. Hope they release the originals, cause it's not worth playing right now for me.
Any news on this?

Highly recommend this plugin, since you can toggle just the lighting fixes without the gold tint if you never liked that part of the original. There is a pretty indepth write-up on this page if you want to know more about what was changed:
https://cookieplmonster.github.io/2020/04/26/dxhr-dc-gold-filter/

On another note I found that you can cycle between exclusive full-screen, windowed and borderless-windowed screen modes using "Alt-Enter". Primarily I always search out this option since I have colour callibrated my display and wish to preserve those gamma-curves in game, but borderless makes it much easier to switch between tasks if you have more than one display.

As to stutter, I do find there is some initial "hitching" that happens on loading a game, it is kind of like it is still loading assets after you are ready to move around, so I'm wondering if that might be part of the cause...after 30 seconds or so, it seems to come right, but I wouldn't be surprised to see more of that hitching on bigger levels.

Possibly not helpful, but if you are having stuttering FPS issues (rather than the "hitching" described above), have you tried switching to Borderless-Windowed mode as opposed to exclusive full-screen? I know it sounds kind of unintuitive, but I noticed that with the more recent Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, I get more FPS stutter in exclusive full-screen mode as opposed to borderless-windowed.

Probably not going to happen and for good reason. My guess is 90% of the users (including me) like the Director's Cut version better compared to the original release.

"for good reason"... Other games made their original release available on GOG before, so unless they've lost the non-DC version's source code I don't see why it couldn't be the case with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Doubly so when the Director's Cut is criticised for having more bugs and one of the DLC built-in, apparently breaking the story's pace. Plus it would allow for the original's preservation (since it's not available anymore) and give players an opportunity to (re)play it.

Out of interest, is it common knowledge that the DC version is sending player behavior metrics back to Eidos / Doublefusion servers, and is this why people prefer the non-DC version?

I only stumbled upon this 3 days ago when I was troubleshooting the DC version freezing during takedown / hack completion, the last thing the game does is connect to:

dx3a-pc-game-metrics.eidos.co.uk
dx3-pc-game-infocast.eidos.co.uk
master10.doublefusion.com

My non-DC version on steam doesn't phone home, from what I can see so far.
