Why Proton? The game is native in Steam.

About Linux version:

So, it is not about "simplification", but about "return on investment" then? Gotcha.
Too few Linux users on GOG means no economical sense.

Zyddie 09/17/2020
There is very very few Linux users on GOG that is accurate, but the amount of time/man power/money to be able to update multiple builds fully and to make sure that build would be functioning as well as the steam version, it wont make sense if we can spend that time to focus all in one place and make sure that that build is completely as it should be.

Alm888 09/17/2020
Well, I do not say I can blame you for this decision, after all, it is GOG's fault that while it tries to maintain price parity with Steam, it does not impose any version/feature parity on developers. Lots of unmaintained or outdated Linux versions there, yet GOG does not seem to be bothered by selling worse products than Steam. Their loss, really.

Zyddie 09/17/2020
If we launch a product we want to be sure they are all updated across every platform possible, with Linux/MAC it isn't possible for us to do yet on more than one, so rather focus that one platform with everything we go ^^

goga-buba: Why Proton? The game is native in Steam.
Good news, and to answer your question, I’m not a Steam client.
Yes my friend :-D
But there is still some information missing to be convinced by Zyddie.
you have given your source, do not take the following as an attack
Here is just my opinion, according to the information known in 2020!

There is very very few Linux users on GOG
How much ???

Many specialized journalists, wanted to write on the subject!
There is no way to know, this information is non-existent or confidential, totally untraceable!
1000 more users per day is little? Yes it is a point of view!
we are estimated to be much more numerous here than at Steam, but impossible to be certain of.
GOG does not communicate anything about this!

If you look at Linux users more than doubled in 2019 and Steam still lost 1% then why?
Yes, not all Linux users are players, but there is a problem.
Questions, which only GOG can answer by publishing statistics... which they may not do.
And Steam, who spends even more for Linux?

For people who talk about Linux sales on GOG ... LOL
Still without any solid argument, no numbers, no support, it’s just their opinion!
as the explanation of the existence of the pyramids!
If we forgot to talk about the tools, and the recovered construction plans, which explains absolutely all!
We can talk about Tesla who went back in time to build giant generators for the Atlanteans!

I’m like everyone else, I don’t have all the information!
But like everyone I can make estimates and give my opinion!
Go I do it now and with solid, figures found on GOG I give figures and my sources!

The biggest vote I see for everyone: +59808
vote only for Linux Version: Witcher3 +13405
(13405÷59808)×100 = 22,4134%
Currently we are 22% Linux users on GOG!

https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/witcher_3_linux_version_1

Honestly
_ For my estimates:
Let’s withdraw votes from secondary accounts 22/2= 11%, we just got closer to the estimated total Linux users.
We don’t have enough information to have a more informed opinion.

_ For some developers:
More than 250 million PCs are sold each year, even though Linux is 1%, it has millions of users.
The picture is important in the calculation, having Linux users who think they are set aside is not good.
Found an explanation for many users; Proton, Wine and dual-boot makes it easier.
You sold effortlessly, so more money.
Some of the richest people in the world know how to lie for money.

goga-buba: Did you think it is matter?
Devs don't give a damn, they care about money.
YES, for some.
THQ Nordic !
When we see what they have done... very poorly placed to talk about sales Linux !

If you find GOG’s Linux sales in 2018 or 2019, you can convince me, but for now...
It seems that Linux players leave Steam and are much more numerous on GOG.

And you can still give a different opinion.
We are simply players without DRM ;-)
May your life be beautiful, and all your native games, my friend!!

If updating is the problem, the correct answer would not have been "we don't plan to" but "we'll add the Linux option once the game is stable".
