amccour: Old RPG by Microprose. It was based on the Darklands engine and actually plays quite similarly, although the combat consists of MTG battles and there was less of an emphasis on character building in lieu of deck-building.

I really liked the game a lot -- the AI for the card battles was obviously not going to be anything stellar, but wrapping the MTG mechanics up in a Darklands metagame made that not much of an issue.

Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of Darklands. Hoping it shows up on gog... sometime.
