New mechanics:

- Units will now experience collision when they approach enemy troops. Each unit now has a radius that will prevent enemies from going through them. This severely affects the cavalry units, as they won't be able to pass through units and make diversions behind the lines.
- Land units can now engage each other more easily.

Changes to gameplay

- The upgrades to firepower from the academy now recalculate after each unit's personal upgrade. Now they are not influenced by the amount of firepower units have at the moment of upgrade and scale independently. This heavily influences the early game stage and affects Serdiuk, 18th century musketeer of Prussia and Denmark.
- Resource gathering upgrades now influence the respective nation where they were learnt and don't stack together.
- "No cannons" option now fully disables artillery, not only cannons.

New game options

- "No diplomatic center", "No market" and "Without either" options are now available in the lobby.
- It's now possible to set starting locations: random positioning or allies grouped together.

Performance and AI

- Optimized the combat and target selection for units.
- Optimized the way AI thinks and reacts, sped up the processes

New in-game notices

- Now the game determines if you have a video card unsuitable for playing the game and will notify the player. In this case, you need to update your video card drivers from the manufacturer's website.
- Now the game will notify you, if it will find only an integrated video card, not a discrete one. If such situation occurs, we recommend you to update your video card drivers from the manufacturer’s website.

Fixed errors

- Fixed "stuck" units, which ignored orders.
- Fixed a bug, when after ordering a unit to go to an unreachable spot (mountain, building or water) the unit stopped reacting to the enemies nearby till the next order.
- Fixed an error, which caused the game to reset the blue colored player options.
- Fixed a bug, when units near one edge of the map could start moving in the direction of the opposing edge.
- In rare cases peasants would ignore "Build" or "Repair" orders. This was happening due to them already being on the spot where required action would take place.
- Fixed the "disappearing upgrade". Prior to this, certain upgrades would disappear from buildings if those buildings were captured earlier.

Ranked:

- The game now has a ranked mode. From now on the players can gain points and progress in the ladder either by playing ranked or casual matches. Due to frequent match evasion and hacking offences, we decided to reset the ranks of all players, giving everyone a fair chance in the new season. Below are the main differences between the two:

Ranked games:

- You can launch it only by pressing ""Quick Play"" or by creating a special room in the multiplayer shell
- The starting options are set and cannot be changed
- All user created modifications are disabled
- Victory grants a lot of points;
- The match is considered ranked only if the game lasts more than 10 minutes.

Casual games:

- Launched from the multiplayer rooms
- The starting options are chosen by the host
- User created modifications are allowed
- The following starting options are set for the ranked mode:
- Type: Team versus Team, 3 vs 3, if there's not enough players the game will automatically switch teams to 2 vs 2 or 1 vs 1;
- Nations: random;
- Starting resources: 5000;
- Peace Time: 10 minutes;
- Map type: Land.
- For a more convenient way of finding ranked games, players can now use the 'Quick Play' button, which will automatically find suitable opponents for the player.
- You can invite up to two players to queue up together for a ranked match. To do this, create a special room and invite your friends, then you need to set the lobby eligible for the Ranked mode. You and your friends can only play on the same team.
- You have 2 months to get a desired title, as the ranked season lasts till the second half of May. The rewards will be distributed at the end of May as well.
- We leave the right to reset ranks of certain players if there will be proof of unsportsman behaviour, match-fixing or cheating.

General:

- The Balloon upgrade now removes Field of View for allies as well.

Cheating

- Cheaters will receive a more severe punishment from now on. We remind you that if you encounter a cheater, you can always send a report letter with a replay and a short description of the supposed hacking to support@cossacks3.com.

Errors:

- Dealt with bugs that prevented some players from seeing their Early Bird bonuses
- Fixed an issue that caused the game to use a wrong localization.
- Fixed a bug with the statistics screen, when after pressing the ""Replay the game"" button the new session used the settings from the previous game.
- Fixed a problem, when the keys responsible for camera controls (arrows) wouldn't respond if the player holds the Shift or Ctrl keys.
- Fixed typos in some texts.
- Fixed an error, when the ""Random nation"" option would never choose the last nation from the list.
- Fixed a bug in the 4th mission of the Prussian campaign, where an enemy's blockhouse wasn't considered hostile.

Multiplayer:

- Fixed an error, when after a several consecutive multiplayer games, the new session had a chance of suddenly ending or displaying chat messages from other games.
- Fixed an issue with MP room exiting, when the player would get a notification that he was kicked although he wasn’t.
- Fixed an error, when after a re-hosting the session wouldn’t count as ranked.
- Fixed a bug, that broke the re-hosting process: the notification about loading of another player would never go away and the game would refuse to start.
- Fixed an error, that caused the shell to appear empty after exiting a session.
- Fixed an error when the player wouldn’t get any points for winning a ranked game.
- We’re going to save TOP 100 players of this season to give the players rewards in the future.

Hotkeys:

- There is an alternative hotkey that allows the player to select all military units – Ctrl + Shift + A and Ctrl + Alt + A.

Balance

- Increased the formation bonus for a 400 units’ template from +2 to attack/+3 to defense to +3 to attack/+4 to defense.
- Increased the amount of peasants that can chop the same tree from 1 to 2, which increases the efficiency of wood gathering.
- Increased the rate at which each next building gets more expensive from 3 to 4%

- Fixed an error, which caused incorrect display of buildings hit points on client PCs. There were mines, which were looking damaged, and players were unable to order peasants to repair this mine or get inside. Shipyards, standing still with 0 hp, while not exploding were fixed too.

- XVIII century upgrade cost decreased.
- Balloon upgrade cost increased from 1750 gold to 5750 gold, to compensate lower 18th century upgrade cost.

- Fast moving cavalry have +5 extra defence against bullets while moving.
- Bullet critical hit doesn't trigger on moving fast cavalry units.
- Multibarrel cannons have twice larger logical size, so it is easier to destroy them with artillery.

Players communication:

- Private messages were reworked. Now you are able to send private messages without /w (/whisper) command! You may just click on player in list (located on right to the chat window), or on his\her message in chat window in order to write directly to him, as writing nickname correctly for each message was hindering communications.
- Message filter. You may filter all messages with next options:
a) Show all messages;
b) Show only your messages along with messages sent to you.
Forget about missed opportunites on playing interesting battles with your friends, just because their messages were 'lost' in global chat, just use a "Private messages" checkbox in upper right corner of chat window.
- Instant inputbox's addressee clearing: after reaching ':' symbol before his nickname: just press the Backspace button twice.
- You won't be wasting time on clearing message anymore: just press button "Clear" (located under the chat window), and you'd be ready to write a "Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks". Reminder: you may delete your message with 'Escape' button too.
We hope, that this chat update would allow you, cossackers, to find and create lots of great multiplayer battles!

Developer comments:

- Changes in market prices should move focus from food to stone in middle and late game. Now, food economy was dominating most part of the game.
- Most of 18 century dragoons was less powerful then their 17 century brothers. We tried to change it and give 18 century better chances, but with much greater price to produce enough power.
- Most of 18 century shooters with out bayonnete was less powerful against general musketeers and don't have chance to play its unique features with higher bullet damage but more fragile against any melee enemy unit.
- We have removed formation bonus for mercenary infantry, while increase base damage, for units that don't use officers to form squad. We find this feature non-challenging while it give quite unpredictable advantage. Removing such bonus made these mercenary units power predictable.
