See above, GOG is a distribution service.
To have these issues fixed, you should contact Anuman/Microïds (http://www.anuman-interactive.com/en/brands/microids/).

GOG is selling game and i bought it from gog. And they putted label that is supporting polish language....
Just make this ... translations.
Do what you want if you think GOG will read your post and fix these issues.
For now, I give up for a clean way to get the adventure mode back.

But there is a dirty way. As a reminder, the adventure mode consists in 5 opened missions where the only goal is to detroy all the enemies. These missions are number 31 to 35. Furthermore, a new adventure always loads mission 01.

The trick here is then to replace mission 01 by mission 31, 32, 33, 34 or 35 to fool the game.

Setting up files and folders (It takes a long time but you only have to do it once) :

1. In folder \data\missions, make a copy of MIS31 subfolder. I've chosen to rename it MIS01_31.
2. In \data\missions\MIS01_31, rename all MIS31*.*, VIS31*.* and INT31*.* files respectively MIS01*.*, VIS01*.* and INT01*.*.
3. In folder \PRM\MISSIONS, make a copy of MIS31 subfolder. I've chosen to rename it MIS01_31 too.
4. In \PRM\MISSIONS\MIS01_31, rename all MIS31*.* and VIS31*.* respectively MIS01*.* and VIS01*.*
5. Do the same for missions 32 to 35. I then have 5 new folders in \data\missions and \PRM\MISSIONS named MIS01_31 to MIS01_35.

Now to play mission 31 for example :

1. Rename folders \data\missions\MIS01 and \PRM\MISSIONS\MIS01. I've chosen to rename both MIS01_BACK.
2. In \data\missions and \PRM\MISSIONS, rename the fake MIS01_31 folders to MIS01.
3. Load game and select NEW ADVENTURE then BLUE/FRANCE.
4. When mission is over, remember to restore the original MIS01 folders in \data\missions and \PRM\MISSIONS (rename both MIS01 folders to MIS01_31 and both MIS01_BACK folders to MIS01).

Keep in mind that each opened mission is bound to a color/nation and you'll get an error if you choose a wrong one. Then to play :

- mission 31, you have to choose BLUE/FRANCE.
- mission 32, you have to choose ORANGE/HOLLAND.
- mission 33, you have to choose RED/ENGLAND.
- mission 34, you have to choose YELLOW/SPAIN.
- mission 35, you have to choose YELLOW/SPAIN.

Not very elegant but kind of effective.
Tried it and it works! Thx
You're welcome dime.cro.

I think may be there is another "dirty" way (but less inconvenient with all the copy and rename things) but I have no time to test it. Instead of loading missions 31 to 35 throught the NEW ADVENTURE/NEW CAMPAIGN option, it consists of loading them throught... the LOAD GAME option.

If someone with all the needed requirements dares to test it, here is how :

1) Install the game with the old good CDROM in a Windows 98 virtual machine. I think the best way to do it is to use VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/).

2) Make sure there are no .SAV files in the \SAVINGS folder. It should only contain a file named "SAVED.TXT".

2) Run ADVENTURE MODE then mission 31.

3) As soon as the mission is loaded, save it as "Mission 31" for example.

4) End the mission and do the same for missions 32 to 35.

5) The \SAVINGS folder should now hold five .SAV files (Don't mind the way the game named them : mis_XXXX.SAV). Copy them from the \SAVINGS folder of the virtual PC to the \SAVINGS folder of your host PC.

6) Try to load each saved mission from the GOG version.

7) If they are OK, please share them.

OK, eventually I found time to generate the saving files from an English version of Windows 98 SE running in "Windows Virtual PC" and an Italian "Corsairs Gold" ISO file !

I had to do it with an ISO file because the CD emulation of "Windows Virtual PC" is unable to mimic the physical CD protection (illegal TOC + audio tracks) of the game and makes it crash.

I think the language mixing (English/Italian sources) doesn't matter : The missions seem to be loaded OK (at least mission 31). The only requirement is that the game has to be installed in C:\Corsairs Gold. If you chose another location during setup, you'll have to hex-edit the files and change the path at offset 14784.

So enough talking, here they are : http://uptobox.com/1qa16jz6bevb. Just extract them from the zip file to your \SAVINGS folder and load one of them from the "LOAD GAME" option. They are named "Mission 31", "Mission 32", "Mission 33", "Mission 34" and "Mission 35".

Anytime :)

By the way, sorry to ask but I noticed you're from UK and I wonder if you could help me with the English language files of the game.

I think there're no bugs with them but I'm looking for someone to check if grammar and spelling are OK (see https://www.gog.com/forum/corsairs_gold/looking_for_translaters).

English language files are the ones ending with .ENG and located in \data\missions\MISxx\yyy\MSG and \data\missions\MISxx\yyy\INT.

Thanks to reply to the topic above if you want to participate.

Hey RSST,

Good job, i think youre the only one who is trying to think in solutions instead of problems.

I'm not from England, but i would like to try and change te files to english. The only problem is, the save files you put up for download have expired.

Kind Regards,
Wytse

Hello Wytse,

Thank you for your offer. The saving files have been reuploaded to a registered account this time : http://uptobox.com/52sdowbi1ge4.
To be frank, I must confess that I lost my motivation on this project. Mainly due to lack of participants. I am busy with other things at the moment and I'm not sure to find the same motivation as before.
That said, I thank you again and if you still OK, I suggest you work on the English (and Dutch why not ?) language files (you don't need the saving files for this as accented characters are rare in English). Here's how :

1. Open the files \data\missions\MIS31\BLU\INT\INT31BLU.ENG and \data\missions\MIS31\BLU\MSG\MIS31BLU.ENG with a text editor like Notepad and check if grammar and spelling are OK for these english files. If not, write down the appropriate changes.

2. If you're a Dutch-speaker and want to, open the files \data\missions\MIS31\BLU\INT\INT31BLU.DUT and \data\missions\MIS31\BLU\MSG\MIS31BLU.DUT with a text editor like Notepad and check if the Dutch translation is OK based on the 2 previous English files. If not, translate the corresponding english file into dutch. For example, I can tell INT31BLU.DUT and MIS31BLU.DUT are not OK as they are in english and the sentences refer to mission 1. Then, new INT31BLU.DUT and MIS31BLU.DUT files have to be produced by translating into dutch the corresponding english files (INT31BLU.ENG and MIS31BLU.ENG).

3. For mission 31, do the same (steps 1 and 2) with \data\missions\MIS31\RED\INT\INT31RED.ENG, \data\missions\MIS31\RED\MSG\MSG31RED.ENG, \data\missions\MIS31\RED\INT\INT31RED.DUT and \data\missions\MIS31\RED\MSG\MSG31RED.DUT.

4. For missions 32 to 35, repeat steps 1 to 3 (change file names accordingly). You can ignore the BLA folder for mission 35.

5. When done, share the modified files.

Please do as you want, at the speed you want.

Best regards.
